Hi all superb owners.

 

I am making a list of little known Superb features/tips. Most of you know, some don't. Just thought I share. Please add if you like and correct if I am wrong. Merry Christmas!

 

1. Climatic Control (aircon) Diagnostic mode (See attachment). This actually applies to all models with Climatic control. Taken off an old passat website. I find it very useful. For safety reasons, PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS WHILE DRIVING..... Stop, switch to diag mode and drive off. Keep yr eyes on the road. I do not want to be the reason for an increase in superb accidents over Christmas.

2. sun visor above the rear view mirror

3. For those who find it hard to shift from P to D after starting car. Do this..

after parking, Move shifter to N, release foot brake and depress again. Lift hand brake, and move shifter to P. You should find that the next time you start the car and move from P to D, you will not face so much less resistance.

I have found certain German documentations on the diagnostic features from the Climatronic unit. Will update the file accordingly once I review and translate all the documents available.

 

If you press

"fan speed up" + "Blue (Cooler)" + "ECON", there are a couple features available. But I have yet to find any documentation on it.

just remembered to add point 4

4. while driving in manual mode, no matter what gear you are in, if you press accelerator all the way until pedal hits the metal, Transmission will drop out of gear to appropriate gear. Most of the time 2nd gear.

Reminds me of something i wanna ask. Usually when i wind down my windows, i turn off the air con. But when cruising, ambient air will blown through the car's air con. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening.

Hi Lamy, sorry, but what SUN Visor above the rear view mirror? u mean the flap?

That is for blocking the reflection of ur interior light in the mirror isnt it? esp at night or dark areas?

correct me if I am wrong..newbie here.

Hi, it is called central sunvisor. When you flip down both left and right sunvisor, there is small gap uncovered by these two. Just flip down the central sunvisor and block the escaped direct sunlight. But I seldom use it.

That is because the ventilation unit will automatically set itself to allow outside air to circulate into the interior after the fan has been switched off for more than 15 minutes (or so). This built-in feature of the Climatronic system is designed specifically for the European climate especially during winter. Heaters are turned on during heater. If the heated air stays in the car for prolonged time, it becomes stale. This feature allows fresh air to enter the cabin and allow stale heated air to escape.

 

The new dual-zone Climatronic sytem from VAG also has this feature.

Correct me if I am wrong ..but before I reply, perhaps u guys can do a simple test later tonite..

Switch ON ur interior reading lights..then look at the rear view mirror n try to see vehicles from behind..then lower the flap n see again....N see what is the difference.

 

I honestly dun think it's for blocking escaped sunlight ,unless I happened to be sitting in the center driving .

perhaps the gurus can share as im jus a newbie

Wil be trying tmr night. I get many idiots with high/bright head lamps in my eyes when driving home.

I think u'd mistaken my post.Unless yours is the auto dimming kind, i dont think lower that central flap willhelp much in dissipating BRIGHT lights from rear vehicles.

It;s more for when u turn on ur front cabin reading lights.

Yes..I do agree those SUPER BRIGHTS lights are irritating while also contributing to a hazard.
