Kokanadan Neutral Newbie January 1, 2007 Share January 1, 2007 Hi folks, Just want to find out if one has a ground to demand a compensation if there's a drop in OMV? I was informed that the OMV was 21K when making the booking of a car, but was later told that the actual OMV is only 19K when making the downpayment. The explanation given was due to the drop in forex rate between EUR-SIN that caused the drop in OMV, but my question would be how come an insignificant drop in the rate cause such a great drop in OMV? As such, I felt cheated as OMV was one of the decision factors and I was specifically told that the OMV is +/- 21K. Can anyone advise? thanks in advance ↡ Advertisement
Furrynadz 5th Gear January 1, 2007 Share January 1, 2007 the price of everything fluctuates depending on prices elsewhere but u dont see prices being adjusted
Kokanadan Neutral Newbie January 1, 2007 Author Share January 1, 2007 So I'll have to swallow this big lemon down? Sigh, just suffered a dip in COE, and now a dip in OMV... how lucky can one get?!
Zze121 3rd Gear January 1, 2007 Share January 1, 2007 (edited) By right the PI should qoute the price after they clear the custom and paid the tax. And customer can dun accept the price as they are not yet confirm. It's always to the seller advantage. Edited January 1, 2007 by Zze121
Kokanadan Neutral Newbie January 1, 2007 Author Share January 1, 2007 It's actually an AD that I've booked my car from. How can AD make such mistake in OMV? sigh...
Zze121 3rd Gear January 1, 2007 Share January 1, 2007 If you really calculate the difference, it is very little only, dun worry, enjoy your ride more important.
Kokanadan Neutral Newbie January 1, 2007 Author Share January 1, 2007 Well, though the difference is not that significant., I just didn't like the way that information is given incorrectly. Like I said, this has been a decision factor, so I expect information to be as accurate as possible so that right judgement is made. To me, that was something like mis-selling. I guess I'll take this as a lesson learnt; don't trust any SE unless black and white is given.
Galantspeedz Turbocharged January 1, 2007 Share January 1, 2007 i believe the 21k in OMV quoted to u is just an estimated based on cars that has already been imported in. I dun think there is a way they can quote you the exact OMV and much as i refuse to admit there is nothing u can do abt it unless it is in black and white. As for COE, if u think u make a loss due to the drop, it may be better off for you to bid on your own next time at your preferred price
Deadly_ak47 Neutral Newbie January 1, 2007 Share January 1, 2007 When i ordered my car. My SE did tell me the OMV will flutuate a bit, and may not get the OMV as of now. I ask them to provide a minimum range, they said they couldnt forcast the OMV 2-3 months from now, i accept their explanation. So for you, the distributor quote you as per the OMV the car was at the point of purchase. 2,3 months later if OMV go up you make, go down you lose. But the differnt arent suppose to be alot. Dont think the SE did much wrong.
Kokanadan Neutral Newbie January 1, 2007 Author Share January 1, 2007 Thanks for the explanation. I guess I'll just take it as bad luck and timing then Btw, I just booked my car around 3 weeks ago. OMV fluctuates that fast?
Kokanadan Neutral Newbie January 1, 2007 Author Share January 1, 2007 I doubt I can do anything then I guess it's just some ups & downs in life that I've gotta accept.
Galantspeedz Turbocharged January 1, 2007 Share January 1, 2007 anyway next time u try notice. most of the time the price of car will increase just before COE result is out den when COE drop they will reduce the price from the raised price and say pass savings to consumers. Happened quite a few times
Kokanadan Neutral Newbie January 1, 2007 Author Share January 1, 2007 That's what I did, booked after COE reached 12,200. But didn't expect it to drop further Anyway, just heeding some of the folks' advices, wait for the delivery and enjoy my ride

Kokanadan Neutral Newbie January 1, 2007 Author Share January 1, 2007 Actually, 2K difference in OMV equates to about 1.6K difference in PARF rebate. Like I've mentioned, what I'm unhappy about was the incorrect information given.
Ccssgm 1st Gear January 1, 2007 Share January 1, 2007 In Fact........Some SE also Not Sure .........OMV Drop......Only When the Car Is In Singapore......Then Realise It........Maybe Due To Currency Drop....... Shippment.........
