Just been informed that w.e.f. 1 Jan 2007, there is no left turn from Scott's Road to Shaw House (Lido Car Park) beside Holiday Inn Hotel. It had been turn into a one-way street for vehicles to come out to Scott's Rd.

Any bros can confirm this ? [shocked][shocked][shocked]

Thanks.

Checked with the web site and confirmed that the road closure take effect from 14 Dec 2006. All vehicles going to Shaw House have to use Claymore Hill either from the American Embassy or Thailand Embassy way.

Turbocharged

Confirmed with own eyes on 31 Dec 06 and 1 Jan 07.

No more left turn from Scotts Road. Good move as this left turn causes a lot of jams at the Wheelock Place/Lido X-junction.

If you need to park at Pacific Plaza, will have to come in via Thai embassy there.

Not sure if it's such a good move afterall.

Now jam will occur due to cars coming out of the shaw centre carpark (turning right out to Scotts Rd, in addition to cars from Pacific Plaza, taxis stopping at the taxi stand, & cars turning into shaw centre carpark (where i usually park at). This usually gets worse when there are cars waiting beside HSBC bldgs beside shaw centre.

Encountered the above twice so far, during the initial stage. Hope the situation has improved nw

But I think that is exactly LTA's objective.

To keep the jams within and inside the smaller roads behind (e.g. Claymore Road) and free up the main Orchard and Scotts Road.

And I believe they have achieved that objective, when I passed there on Dec 30.

No more this long line of cars and taxis along Scotts and Orchard Road, right at the traffic light corner of Lido Cineplex, waiting to turn into the Shaw Center taxi stand and Shaw House car park.

However peering inside the inner smalll roads, it was utter CHAOS!!!

Good (I thought). Keep it all inside.

[nod][nod] I've been to Shaw a few times since the change. I find it better too, no more jams at Wheelock.

LTA is just transferring the jam from Scotts road to Claymore hill,

now it takes longer to get to Shaw House and the traffic there is damn chaotic as the same road is not designed to handle such volume of traffic. [hur]

They should have closed that DAMN road donkey years ago. I often use this stretch of road coming down from Great World City.

THE WHOLE BLOODY HOOT KIAM ROAD to PATERSON to SCOTTS ROAD......JAM-UP JUST BCOS OF THIS LEFT TURN AT SHAW CENTRE.

Its unbelieveable.....the jam can be as long as 1hr.....just to clear this 1+km road.
