Just saw an aftermath of a terrible accident at ECP...another WRX crash

I once crashed into a wall along Thompson road heading towards AMK on the triple lane fly-over. Rushing due to medical emergency. No damage to the wall except for scratch marks, so no charge at all.

The other one was a crash at a bus stop. I was following behind 2 vehicles as shown in the diagram (I'm the red car).

The T-junction was upslope, I followed behind the green vehicle to turn right. At the apex of the right turn, I shifted up to 2nd gear, but I think I floored too much and ended up fishtailing into the bus stop.

Only 2 tiles were chipped off during the crashed, thus no claim was made against me for the bus stop. In fact, after that, they erected 3 concrete towers at the edge of the bus stop to prevent such things from happening again.

Especially for S15's that are tuned for drift, it's not funny when it happens in the rain on the highway as one of the other S15 bro here can tell you too.

In the rain, the only joy we get is when we go drifting. Saves a lot on tires. thumbsup.gif

It also gives us a good excuse to go around a junction u-turn on front pivot due to the wet floor condition. wink.gif

Wha brother Chromas...so you are the one that made the govt to build those pillars... [idea]

Glad to hear that with your good skill, you manage to stop in time and thus not into the bus stop. But those passanger-to-be at the bus stop must have one hell of a time to witness tokyo-drift real time...

All the best in your quest to be the drift king of Singapore...hope to learn from you one day when I can afford a RWD or even better a S14.

Have to done a drift while doing U-turn in SG roads?

No, I did crash into the bus stop, that's why I chipped the seat of the bus stop.

My driver door took the full force of the crash and cushioned the rest of the car. My full bucket seat also protected my leg in the crash.

It was just barely 3 weeks after collecting the car when it happened. I'm also not sure what happened. TP came and asked the crowd if I was speeding or anything, they all said don't have, that I just started to spin and came crashing over.

seems like there are many serious wrx accidents recently

tuas then fong seng and now this.

no offence to WRX owners here, but can't help saying Subaru WRX can be coined as Subaru Wrecks, if more of these accidents happen. pls drive safely.. [:/]

Date : 14-Jan-07

Time : 3:00pm to 7:00pm (or when your tires botak)

Venue : Gelang Patah Drift Circuit

How To Get There : After the Petronas at Tuas, drive for around 1km+, keeping a lookout for the Gelang Patah exit. You can't miss it.

After turning off the slip towards Gelang Patah, make a U-turn once you're clear of the centre divider (yes, it's not a legal U-turn point).

Drive straight and head under the bridge (NSHW) and go all the way to the roundabout. You'll see a resort under construction on your right. Head towards the ulu-ulu road on the left.

As you drive, you'll see a mini-hill on your right on the opp side of the road. U-turn at the first possible location. You'll see the drag strip.

Drive along the road going back towards the rounadabout, but keep a look out for the drift circuit entrance on your left.

There should usually be loads of other cars parked outside eagerly awaiting some action. Spectators come FOC.

I should be at the Petronas at around 2:30pm and will set off by 2:50pm if anyone wants to tag along.

It's only 1km+ after the Petronas, so I won't exactly be speeding there at all. I'll leave SG side around 2:00pm from Jurong East area and then cross over by around 2:30pm and be at Petronas to wait till about 2:50pm.

learn what? drifting or donuts? what makes you think i cant? perhaps not with much precise control or beauty but im quite sure i can do it.

If i have as much interest as you in this sport, i would have had changed to a 2 way LSD when i had a good deal on it.

Now I am just not really ready to ruin my new paint work. [laugh]

btw hows the turn out and response for this event when you posted in forum? I think lukewarm also ya? Just not many of us like to waste good tyres or get nasty bumps. [sly]

but still will see how, if alot of the rest goes, i will try 'harder' to make it.

sat dont chiong, the nite difficult to pass, u know? [sweatdrop]

Well, you did mention before that it'd be good to gather everyone once for a session to just learn what happens when a car starts to oversteer. nod.gif

Response has been lukewarm so far, but then again, I posted it up just so that anyone else who is interested can come along too. I was planning to go there and drift myself along with some friends who regularly go there anyway. smile.gif

Billy came the last time around to learn a bit. He was running on stock clutch and stock LSD as well. nod.gif

I was learning way back in Dec 05 also on stock stuff. Gets a pretty good feel of the car.

Hmmmm, anyway it's 3:00pm at the track on Sun. You can still chiong on Sat and sleep in till 1:00pm on Sun before coming. Hope to see you there, ya? wink.gif
