Bro, i believe that we need to rev our engine frequently to clear the carbon accumulated even if we pump Shell V Power, Caltex Techron ... etc [nod][nod][nod]

This would make your ride liveier [;)]

no I find that my mileage improved recently after I tried 98 for a few tanks b4 reverting back to 95. Not sure about the so called cleaning abilities. Sorry. BTW, there is no silly question. [:)]

For some, the "trouble" is the fun. The end product may not be the goal. It's the journey that is more important.

Hi Crummytyre, since I owned my previous Lancer in 2001, I already knew the setback of the car as some have complained that the car is slow at pick-up, engine sluggish, etc.

That is why I did research myself and comunicate with the respective accessories manufacturer to overcome the above problems.

Before posting my article, I already anticipated that I will get negative remarks. But however, I believe that those who are experiencing the above problems with their Lancer and don't know what to do, would find certain components (if they do not want to spend much) that I have in my car beneficial.

The main reason of my posting is to share with fellow Lancer owners that they will not regret buying Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6L GLX CVT if they know what to replace/add certain items.

Wow Bro, you sure have pampered your ride with lots of goodies [:)]

Hi Mzrmazda3, having own cars for over 30 years, I feel that one has to maintain their car well and enjoy whatever vehicle they buy. If one is not happy with their ride, diagnose the problem and put it right.

As we know, buying a vehicle in Singapore is one with the greatest depreciation. If the problem is identified, do something to improve the engine and enjoy the drive than cursing at the poor performance and whatever of the vehicle from day one.

I have done all these improvements to my cars throughout these years except for my latest addition, a Merc CLK. The latter has all the performances that I want which I am happy with.

Hi Friendstar, to determine the effectiveness of a tyre does not base on the distance travelled, duration of usage and whether the tyre threads are still deep or not.

Though your eagle F1 tyres have already clocked 50,000km, grooves are still deep enough and only 2 years, the tyres components might be hardened. Well, only an honest and liable tyre shop can tell on the condition of your tyres.

The other reason why i want to change tyre is because of the noise level. The stock ones are just so annoyingly noisy. Planning to make a trip up North in a few months time, maybe KL or something.

Im aiming to get all these done up before making the trip to test the effectiveness. [nod][nod][nod]

Oh...for 1.2k its reasonable. Is there a workshop that do all-one for all those things u mentioned. Kind-of lazy to go many diff places to install lar.

Mine is OPC somemore........will only be converting to normal plate next year.

Hiphiphoray, I suggest that you install one at a time and try it out for 2 to 3 weeks as to whether you could feel any improvement to your car. Only then will you install another and the same process goes.

It is no point putting all in your car at one go as you will not feel that your car is getter better and better. I know that the easiest is to put all that I have in my car, in your car and you get the final result.

The question here is do you know what you are installing and to what extent it gives to your car and that is important.

I added/replaced my parts from various accessory shops to ensure that I get the best price, the boss and staff are friendly and most importantly, good after sales service.

I would not recommend putting all the "eggs in a basket".

Hiphiphoray, if you find that your stock audio sound system does not give you the 'kick' for the last 1.5 yrs, did you change the stock speakers to component cross-over speakers or still the stock ones.

What I did to my sound system is that I used back the HU but changed the stock speakers to component cross-over speakers with separate tweeters.

The shop that I purchased the speakers checked the specs of my HU and told me that it's wattage is strong enough to support my new set of speakers. But I don't use amp and stand alone bass speakers. I use the HU to adjust the bass, sub-woffer, treble and mid range.

I think that it would easily set you back about S$600 or so replace to have a low range entirely new sound system in your car.

As for your current tyre, I feel that you have used enough of it and get they changed. I do not know whether your tyre size is 195x60x15. If it is, you might want to consider the newer model of Goodyear tyres. Off-hand, I can't recall the name but its after Eagle LS2000.

The new tyre is also comfortable, quiet and good road holding including on dry and wet surfaces cutting through puddles of water.

High rev with aircon will stress the compressor cos the compressor is turn by your pulley. if you rev high too long your compressor will be spinning at high speed this will spoilt it cause aircon are not design for high rev for long period.

did test before my old aircon before it knok out, i always high rev it regardless of wat till once it heated up so much it start to jam up and smoke.

btw if wan to high rev off aircon will return more power to your car and more power too.

Bro Mikeyeo, the list of things which you had suggested is really interesting, I am interested in following the same config. But I am a total noob in zhng-ing cars. Can you help to elaborate further on the parts which you had used?

Basically, I would like to know about their availability in Singapore and what brand to choose from?

1. 2 magnetic fuel saving devices, one of them imported from oversea,

Question: Is it a must to have 2 of these?

2. Installed a cyclone air intake (the stainless ones with one end cut and spliced at an

angle) inside the flexible hose after the air filter box.

4. Installed an exposed light turbo device to further complement the cyclone.

5. Replaced the stock drop-in air filter to high performance racing filter,

8. 9 point grounding cables and each cable has a magnetic fuel saving device. 4 of these

cables connected to each of the spark plugs,

9. Installed an air-charger intake to supplement the original air-intake.

10. Installed an air breather at the engine block to allow excessive air to escape out,

11. Use synthetic oil with Friction Reducer additive added into the engine compartment.

The latter will remain in the tank for about 100,00km,

12. Add fuel tonic every alternate topping up of the fuel tank full,

For 11 and 12, I am quite paranoid about fuel additives. Does this contribute to the lower fuel consumption?

har? what de...

amusing leh... so can i say current mits on the rds are all manual transmission, with the exception of the the cvts?

Lancer usings INVECS II CVT (AT Technology onli for Lancer Turbo GDI)

Lancer regardless of FL or pre-FL (face lift) uses GLX engines offering Manual or CVT Auto.

regards.

current CVT is INVECS III.

INVECS II is conventional auto tranny used in the Lancer of the late 90s. 2 versions before current.
