Caaa Clutched March 9, 2007 Author Share March 9, 2007 how u derived at that figure ? when i checked the website, the COE quota didnt drop as much as your figures show ??? Ha, I just got the figure from my friends....so to answer your question, I've checked with them again, so this is what I was told: Cat A Now 2687/bid X 2 (bid per month) = 5374/month, new quota 51803/12 month = 4317/month so diff is 5374-4316 = 1057 lesser; Cat B now 1274/bid X 2 = 2548/month, new quota 26995/12 = 2250/month. diff is 2548-2250 = 298 lesser per month; the same working for Cat C & E..... Hope these clear your doubt
Ahyoo2002 2nd Gear March 9, 2007 Share March 9, 2007 Fewer COEs from May onwards By Julian Lim - Mar 09, 2007 AsiaOne 127,021 COEs available for May 2007 to April 2008, compared with 139,647 the previous year. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) today released details of the number of Certificates Of Entitlement (COEs) to be released for the Quota Year '07 (QY07), from May 2007 to April 2008. A total of 127,021 COEs will be made available, compared to 139,647 COEs for the same period last year. According to LTA spokesperson, Naleeza Ebrahim, the annual COE quota is calculated based on "the vehicle growth component, the expected de-registrations of vehicles in the year, and the adjustment component for any over/under-projection of vehicle de-registrations in earlier years." Despite the smaller COE quota, Singapore's vehicle population looks set to grow by 3 per cent or approximately 23,000 vehicles, according to LTA's forecast of 86,000 vehicles to be deregistered for QY07. The total number of vehicles as at 31 December 2006, stands at 778,257. An additional 8,520 COEs had been added to the last year's quota during a mid-quota year review, meaning that the original number set at the start of QY '06 was 131,127, which is still higher than this year's quota. Miss Ebrahim explained to AsiaOne Motoring that the lower number of COEs for QY07 compared to that originally announced for QY 06 was "due mainly to a lower number of adjustment COEs introduced for QY07." The largest drop in number of COEs was for the popular Category A cars (1600cc and below) and taxis. 51,803 Cat A COEs will be available over the course of the next Quota Year, almost 7,000 fewer than the previous year. Hi, In fact the quota is much higher than I thought. Total COE for May 07 to April 08 is 127021. Total COE for May 06 to April 06 is 139647, this in fact include 8520 COE from the 2006 mid-year quota review. Look at: d. The figure includes 8,520 COEs which were added due to the 2006 mid-quota year review. The originally announced quota was 131,127. So in actual fact, the COE quota is only reduced by 131,137-127021=4116 So, the quota is not really reduce by so much Although the monthly quota did reduce when compare March 07 and April 07 figure, but I would said not much if year on year comparison
Boxster 2nd Gear March 9, 2007 Share March 9, 2007 (edited) but would it affect car prices?? car prices would go up?? hmmm din manage to get my coe on wed.. hope it wun affect me.... bidded for a coe for march... tan chong only bidded 8.9 k for me!?! =(((( Relax friend it is unlikely it affect you. COE is unlikly to rise suddenly cos look at the statistics from last yr 4/06 and 5/06 the no. of CAT A COEs were reduced by around 500/ round but COE price still remained the same region +/- 1k But the COE now should be in the region of 12 -13k. 5K-6K COE is an "accident" coz I witness this as I was bidding for it. Jacf Neutral Newbie March 9, 2007 Share March 9, 2007 Extract from the wed page: COE Quota For Quota Year 2007 (QY07) As announced by Minister for Transport, Mr Raymond Lim, the annual quota of Certificates of Entitlement (COEs) for Quota Year 2007 (for the period May 2007 to April 2008) will be 127,021. Details of the quota for each vehicle category are at Annex A. Bidding under this quota will start with the April 2007 First Open Bidding Exercise. The vehicle quota for QY07 consists of the following components: 3% vehicle growth based on the vehicle population as at 31 December 2006; Replacement COEs for vehicles expected to be de-registered between January and December 2007; and An adjustment component for any over/under-estimation of vehicle de-registration in previous years. In making the adjustments for any over/under-estimation of vehicle de-registration in the year 2006, LTA has factored in the revisions that were made during the mid-quota year review conducted in October 2006. LTA will announce the COE quota available for the April 2007 first open bidding exercise following the last bidding exercise of the Quota Year 2006 in March 2007. the COE quota is estimated based on 3% vehicle growth based on the vehicle population as at 31 December 2006 which is being taken into consideration. However , i heard on news on budget debate in parliament on speech by Raymond Lim. He was saying that the 3% veh growth per annum is not sustainable as by the yr 2020, our vehicle population would have to 12 millions from the current 800k! SG where got so many land to house 12 mil vehicles? so i will be expecting some new measures by MOT in coming yrs! keep your fingers crossed.

Hshs 5th Gear March 9, 2007 Share March 9, 2007 So Cat A reduce by 500+ per round. That's a lot Govt also mention going to review 3% grow next year Plus the July GST increase So there is no reason the car price/COE will going down

Vesfreq Neutral Newbie March 9, 2007 Share March 9, 2007 Soak up more of those demand for cars. Later, car price tumble again, because of weak demand. Too much panick buying. I was looking at the subaru cars. Subaru prices didn't vary much, unlike nissan (see other thread). Mitsubishi lancer jump up to 47k (g'teed coe). Lancer price don't make any sense to me.... For the basic lancer MT 40k (some weeks back) base on about 10k coe, now the price about 47k (g'teed coe) and coe this round only 12k. At least MI price didn't fly up that much.
