most likely this is a case of fake licence plates by the Chery.. recently ,news reported a man jailed for 3 yrs for faking licence plates of another car.... penalty not light for such offence.. [thumbsdown]

Turbocharged

talk about faking an illegal car.... if i drive in a honda city for example (must be a model available here..) from malaysia (MY registered car..)...enter singapore then do the following...

1) add an IU unit...

2) add any local plate (fake plate ..)

3) find a lobang for any old roadtax and paste it on the screen (frankly, who really bother to read the roadtax?? i didnt put mine for nearly 6mths and i'm not caught ..maybe im lucky but the chances of being stop by rov and check roadtax is slimmer than striking 4D... [laugh] ...

4) season parking is tough i think... maybe park at those areas so ulu or private eastate and dont buy season parking lor....

with this few simple workaround, this car cant be driven around singapore for a long time as long no accident or stuff like that....what u think?...possible?... [:p]

ya possible... but one day sure kenna 'exposed' .. that's why we are seeing this thread here abt the chery..

the owner has kenna parking offences which he din commited which means the chery has been booked for those offences..

unless the car with fake licence plates religiously put valid coupons & dun anyhow park .. plus never commit moving offences - speeding, etc. else it's indeed quite diff to catch such a car.. but why would one want to fake licence plates in the first place?? motive is simple, to escape the offences & push it onto another car..so to prevent being caught, that car must keep on changing licence plates frequently..

Can't we just check the road tax label to make sure that the car's plates are genuine? You can make a 3rd party licence plate but its a little bit harder to forge a road tax label that passes close scrutinization.

actually with today's cutting edge photo editing softwares & printing technology of home printers.. it's not that difficult to forge the road tax too.. i can do it too if i can face the penalty of getting caught.. but i too timid to do it for sake of few hundreds bucks..
