I'm considering getting an RX8 but surprised at the wide flutuaction in prices .

mazda lists at >$110K but PI list at as low as $80K ! Also sgcarmart have 2-3 years old cars selling around $80K but considered "no risk" or "selling close to scrap"

need some help understanding the differences. this would be my second car so i guess going the PI way would be fine (if they can support this car with its special engine). mazda motor premium does seem way too high.

all suggestions welcome.

Save yourself the headache of buying from unreliable sources.

If you want to buy from PI, talk to Guyver, your trusted My Car Forum PI

If you want to buy from authorised distributor, talk to Ah Veo, renowned for his excellent after sales service

You can't go wrong with all of them, because should anything go wromng, the whole of MCF will come after them [;)][laugh]

Have u test driven the RX 8 yet ?

mazda motor only brings in the high spec version of the RX 8 that comes with more horsepower and only manual transmiossion.

if u want an auto version then u got to go to the PIs. however MM will not help u service your PI Rx 8 later

also u might want to know that the RX 8 consumes....eats up motor oil...i was told that u have top up half a small bottle of mineral oil after every two full tanks of petrol....super mah fan if u ask me... [:)]

Rotary engine consume more fuel and i heard not many workshops are competent in the engine technology. used to hear this during the RX7 days.

Think should be not many workshop are familiar with it...and heard that the rx7 are mainly the apex seal at end of the rotor that is the problem. But the Rx8 had improve on that. Also fuel comsumption are not as bad as the rx7 but is still a drinker...(at least not so bad) But 1 thing about the rotary, is that they are hot...Meaning the heat they produce...

If that's the case, good what, no need for oil change cos every time top up new oil. There's no used oil for u to drain. Where got mah fan? [laugh]

With 2 oil coolers, total oil in system is about 7 litres. You can choose to top up 1 small bottle every 2,500 km or you could also stick to mineral, drain the pan and fill 4.5 litres every 5,000 km.

No difference if you ask me.

Hi oomph, I believe that you have already done whatever you want to know about the RX8. It's a 1.3L rotary engine which is equivalent to a 2.6L engine as in the previous RX7. You may pay lower road tax but accept on the high fuel consumption.
