My point is, cats are not computer programs, you won't really have an idea what they are up to (you own a cat, probably you won't know what its thinking, how can we safely assume that stray cats can't scratch cars/bikes?)

btw, one morning i saw a pile of fresh cat crap ontop of a car windshield/bonnet area... heng not my car, but i pity the owner.

'kiap' you? last time my tame persian dug all 4 sets of claws into my lap dispite me wearing jeans.

and in terms of surface context, a car surface is much smoother than any other surface found at the carpark... what makes you think that cats can't slip?

it's just like inexperienced drivers (cats) who constantly use the 'brake' (cat claws) to slow down their car when they accelerated too fast (jumping onto the roof)

those who say cat claws is same as human nails and are not hard is bullsh1tting, take a good look at all those car handle areas. in that context, human nails are blunt and not as sharp as a cat's.

tell me that you can fix that with some cheap miracle anti-scratch paste/cream/liquid back to original, and i'll eat my words.

waxing ur car will help.

good canabu wax emit strong smell should b rather pungent to them. armor all the tyres as well so they r not impulsive to spray a string of urine on them.

in no time, they will abandon...

actually cat claws arn't as sharp as u think. it's very hard to leave scratch marks on car surface. think there was an article which states that cat nails are made of the same material as our nails. so if u can scratch ur car with ur nails.. then yeah

ermm... my friend's bike seat cover, which is made of strong industrial PVC, was ripped by cats' claws several times.

after he changed to thicker seat cover, still can get deep scratches.

i dun think my nails can do that.... [rolleyes]

This has happened to me before..

The CAT did NOT Climb onto my car.

IT BLARDY WENT INTO THE BLARDY ENGINE AREA..

I started the engine.. suddenly got cat sound.... stopped the engine... popped the bonnet.. saw 2 eyes staring at me... it was less then 5 inches to the belts..

nearly scared the piss out of me.

roadkill in the CAR!

ask ur technican to do a relay and switch to short out ur earth after you take ur keys out from ur keyhole. That way ur car is fully "insulated" from external threats [sly]

i can fully understand. my car boot has this very deep "meow was here" signature.

actually the best way is to hv dogs peep on yuor car. then cats will stay far far.

but would you do it?

The cats in my area love to jump onto cars at night to sleep, sometimes they also jump on when fighting. The issue is that they leave rather deep scratch marks and these could not be removed...haiz...wonder is there any way to prevent that other than using a dog to guard the car. [laugh]

Don't think there is any way to stop them. The link below shows the cat sleeping on the car (I've seen it a few times already) in the mornings. Unless the owner changes his parking spot, the cat will go back to the same car...

Apply Collinite #845 on your bonnet. It's got an insecticide smell to scare the cat away.

pretty sure that does not work because i still see the cats paw print on my car after using 845smallcry.gifsmallcry.gifsmallcry.gif

Talking about it... I just found cat paws on my 845 coated bonnet [:/]

I guessed another way is to park as high as possible.

Doubt the cats are so industrious as to climb that high to enjoy the warmth of the engine.
