1st I never meet strangers. 2nd the best place to see is at Melcher they are friendly ppl no doubt I have my point of view sometimes. Dun worry about being blur, I was also when I first started and everyone goes through it.

Worth while, as you can ask more questions and they are a better person to tell you serious.

Ok guys, made arrangement with Melcher. What do I need to do?

Let's say

1. To allow the car to run gas rather than petrol when idle.

2. To gap my spark plug (I am using NGK Platinum)

3. Others....... (Need feedback)

Your urgent feedback is essential. Meeting them this evening.

Thanks

Hi,

Heard that TC cars might not be able to convert. I guess you got to go down to the installer to check out.

Anyway i am facing some problems with my CNG conversion. I have a oil catch tank, grounding and z-stab installed on the car, received a call from the company saying that they saw what i have installed on the car. They are worried that if they installed the CNG kit onto my car, will caused a lot of performance drop.

The question is that what i have installed on the car are mainly additional items to enhance what is originally found in the car. I did not change the functionality or alter the workings of any part of the engine. They are saying that they have only working on stock engines before, but never work on modified engines. But my engine is not considered a modified one.

Anyway, i just ask them to proceed with the installation and crossing my fingers.

Cheers

Dun worry too much. Mine also having ground and z stab but that will not affect the installation of CNG.

In the first place, you already know that once install CNG, performance /power of the car will drop, but to what extend, it depends on individual.

The installer has to play safe in telling you the fact, else you will blame them not not doing a good job.

Certain power loss due to usage of CNG is understood in the first place.

The fact is that on the first day when i sent in the car, the manager already took a good look at the engine. The manager did mentioned it looks complex but say is ok. Then third day i received a call from the mechanic, and was told that the manager is not around.

It seems to me that the mechanic is too lazy to work on engines which are not in stock condition. I dislike the fact that the mechanic trying to push responsibility if he happen to do a not so good job. I now just hope that they can put in some effort to finish up the job.

Please pardon me about my complains [laugh]

Thanks

Am considering to buy the new Chevrolet Optra Magnum Estate or Honda Airwave, CNG version. Don't know which is a better buy. Driving 03 G9 now. Any advice ?

Hi,

Same here, i am also driving a '03 G9.

Most AD will void your warranty once you convert your car to use CNG, with the exception of KIA, citroen and Ssangyong. So in terms of buying the car with CNG usage in mind, i personally will go for Honda Airwave, CNG version. The process of getting the Honda Airwave with CNG conversion will have less hassle (if you can find a reliable PI) when compare to buying a car from AD then send it for CNG conversion. On the basis of i can live with the performance of the either cars with CNG conversion. Do note the Honda Airwave with CNG conversion has already being subjected to tax rebate, the scrap value will be less.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Cheers

Dear Incom

I look forward to see your next update after CNG installation on your G9.

Actually the Chevy estate will come with factory fitted cng. also included in the 3 year warranty. Thought it may be more reliable. Buying from AD afterall. Cheaper too. However, Airwave looks better physically. Perceived that Honda is still better than Chevy. Also don't know which PI to buy from to get the best deal for airwave. looking at moon roof version.

Infact, am also thinking if I should just get a used airwave, petrol version. Feel very reluctant to give up my G9 who has not given me any problem from day 1.

What makes you decide to keep the G9 and install cng? perhaps I should consider your option too.

Tks for your advice.

Maybe we might want to flip to the other side of the same coin after all these discussions.

Our CNG friends here might want to advise the total average time expanded per week to-and-fro the CNG kiosk cum waiting with respect to the ratio of CNG-to-petrol consumption.

For most of us 0%:100% CNG-to-petrol consumers, average time is probably 5mins-15mins or less if we top-up fortnightly.

I cover 600km a week. So the fill up is 3 times a week. However, the attitude is not "die die must pump CNG". If run out, you can use the expensive petrol until you come up to the filling station on your way to work or back. It is difficult to have a life if you have a "die die must pump CNG" attitude.

I do this on the way back home since I live in Woodlands. Most of the converted have the filling station that is in their daily routes. To not have a filling station on your daily route, it is best not to convert.

Filling time is the same as petrol. Difference is payment is faster.

Hi,

Apologised for the Chevy part, did not know that they have it factory fitted CNG. If that is the case, i will prefer to go for Chevy estate. With the warranty from AD, it will be less hassle if there is any hiccups with the car.

As for why i decided to keep the G9 and install CNG. The car is quite cheap to maintain and it has a very good FC with occasional sprints. Another reason will be i am sharing the car with my dad who is now in semi-retired mode. He just need a point A-B vehicle, and intends to keep the G9 as long as it is still usable. There is also intention in the family to purchase another car, so it does not financially make sense to have too much loans (since the loan for the G9 is coming to end). Moreover usage of bifuel cars in Singapore, is still its infant stage. I believe 4-5 years down the road, more and more ADs will be bringing in factory made hybrid/bifuel cars. By the time if i want to scrap the G9, I will have much more choices of bifuel/hybrid cars from AD.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Cheers

I am very much interested in the cng conversion for mpv and is looking at either wish or stream..Was told by the PI that stream has to sacrifice the last row of seats, any guru with stream cng can clarify...

Wish is spacious, sporty but in the market for quite awhile..heard new wish comming end 08

stream is sporty, not as spacious and new in market..

both have good and reliable engines and with stream ard 2k more than wish..

Which would you choose..

Any pics for cng stream conversion???

For me I try to run purely on CNG. So I top up every 2~3 days depending on the usage.

I do this to max savings if u understand and it is on the way.
