You save more from the lower price of fuel. Your car's FC can be helped a bit by the CNG ECU which Peter from Melchers will tune. He reads off the sensors and adjusts accordingly to achieve EuroIV emissions with CNG.

do u see the price of $0.75/l going up? cos it is like less than half the price of petrol.

if i do 32,000km per year, that will be $6,000 for petrol compared to $2,500 for cng. savings of $3,500/year. cng kit cost will be recovered within 1 year [thumbsup]

hmm should i kiss my deposit with km goodbye? murphy's law. i waited and waited for cng station and the moment i book hybrid, they announce cng station, right at my backyard to boot [furious]

Fret not. Hybrid cars have better FC than CNG cars. Serious! The comparison is done between the Honda Civic Hybrid and Civic GX. The Hybrid still wins in the FC department but the GX wins in the emissions department. So the Hybrid has lower fuel costs a year but the Hybrid is not cheap to begin with in the first place.

For the information of those interested, recently I posted on a hellish morning. The old ignition coils/driver have been replaced as with the flywheel pickup sensor.

Ignition has been improved (that goes w/o saying). The jerks have disappeared. Smoother power delivery. CNG is very sensitive to the health of your ignition system. Petrol will always run fine even with a faulty ignition system to a certain degree.

So those considering to convert, if you want to have a good head start, replace the ignition system should your car exceeed 100k km mileage.

Guys,

when you do the gas price calcultaion, please take note.

Jurong Island gas is sold in KG. So the price there is S$1.00/kg + GST

The price announced on the news is in LITRES! If you convert S$0.75/l into kilos, you get S$1.02/kg! The news did not mention if it includes or excludes GST.

So please take note of the difference in calculation. But then again, S$1.02 or S$0.75, it's still much cheaper than current petrol prices!

Wow you really got it done! I am seriously considering this option as well, thanks for the report.

I am driving a Toyota picnic, my petrol bill average $400+ per month, I am seriously thinking to install the CNG in my car.

I got reply from the CNG company, they mentioned if I can get 5 cars to install can get 10% discount, Please refer below for the details of reply message:

Cost of installation is $3400SGD. This includes all the Kit parts and labour and application to LTA for vehicle conversion and a cylinder in the booth for your CNG.

The refilling point will be in the front of the car at the bonnet. We place these here for technical reasons and there is no obstruction and it is easy to refill form here. The station attendant will do everything for you in 1.5 mins.

Click on this link to view the refill process. It is fast and easy.http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=melcherscngteam

If you can confirm a total of 5 cars for conversion ,including yours, we can offer you a 10% discount.

There are 2 systems. The mixer system which costs S$2600 and the Sequential system which costs S$3400.

The sequential system is the most advanced system brought in form Italy and results in a smooth drive with a minimal power loss of 3%

The mixer system is an older system which yields a power loss of about 15%-20% and is suited to carburetted cars and smaller capacity cars.

Please refer to link for those fixed the CNG in their car

http://www.cng.com.sg/gallery.php

Please note I am not their Sales people, I am trying to gather 4 car including Mine for total of 5 cars to enjoy for 10% discount.

If interested please e mail to me [email protected]

Thank you.

Regards

Supersonic

Sorry to be blunt, but if that's the case, there is no reason why anyone would want to join you since if they went in on their own, they'd pay $3400 anyway.

Just to check with you, is the tank small enough to be fitted into the spare tyre compartment?

Was thinking of removing the spare tyre anyway.

Hope you can shed some light on this.

Cheers,

Ed

I still have my spare tire. You cannot stuff the cylinder into the spare wheel well. Only LPG toroidal tanks allow you to do that but it is illegal to use LPG as a propulsion fuel in SG.

ok,

looking at long term,, i might be considering taking my ride way up to the 10th year or more and lug in the cng system.

but have to see first after the the 2nd piglet is born, if she does requires any boot space to carry the pram when going out.

my car's boot is quite empty now, except for the occasional bulk purchase bringe i have.

anyway, we'll see next year.

I can still load my umbrella style stroller. I believe that is the only type of stroller that can go in now. Good thing she doesn't need it.

Will be investing in a roof rack system as we go on more driving holidays.
