My CNG conversion

As long you install the CNG before you register you will get green rebates from LTA. After you register the car and install cng no rebates(ARF). So I dunno what calculation is going on with the dealer if it is true then it is a rip off.

The two new stations can fill even at higher pressures (eg at 3/4 or 1/2). The Jurong Island one can't. This is because the new stations cycle through the "pressure banks".

FC on CNG is different from FC with petrol. Just as different driving styles will contribute differently, CNG is complicated by the fact that fill station compressors are different as well.

Go to http://www.ngvcommunity.com for details. Most are Protons and it will give you a rough idea.

Hey bro..got some enquiries about CNG.

1. Is it possible to further enhence the power of the car after CNG convertion?

2. Is it true that the car's life span will shorten due to it?

3. Hows ur FC after using for a year?

Thanks in Advance....

Thank you for the updates

1. Yes. Increase compression ratio and hardened valves. IMHO, not worth the effort.

2. No. Just make sure your lubes are flowing and the coolant working.

3. Still the same.

Yes, I second that. Switch to petrol for long hill climbs. CNG when used on the hills of NUS and NTU was painfully slow though the engine didn't choke.

Errrr... you mean that running CNG, the car's rpm won't go up even when pedal is floored, causing the painful climb? or its just that you didn't want to rev the car on lower gear??? [sweatdrop]

I have no issues I just rev hard at 3~4k then shift up and shift down if need power. No overheating issues. Power, yes just 1 gear notch difference. If full load I gues 1 & 2 gear is yr friend. Drove up genting no issues. survived. Funny part is with aircon on my engine oil maintained at 110 degC but with it off ... woo hoo it shot up to 150 degC. Anyway ... Gas is cheap... Oh yah the rate of consuption is woo hoo also.

ON CRUISE it is best. 110km/h ~ 130km/h for overtaking no issues but have to kar kar rev to 4.5K rpm and above .... sure can overtake no issues again. I fizz out fast also ard 170km gone liao .... have to take to account 4 passenger 1 kid and a dead weight and spare tyre installed with some barang barang in the boot.

So if you wanna be a racer gas is not the option but it can go. Loc. Malaysia. Hills Cameron highlands

Is your Optra MT or AT? Also, before your conversion, what's your petrol FC like?

Your CNG mileage of 200-250km seems viable. As the present refill stations are a bit out of the way for me, I'm trying to compare petrol FC vs CNG mileage to see if it is feasible. E.g. petrol FC is 12km/l vs 200km with CNG thus if petrol FC lower, obviously CNG mileage will be lower as well.

Genie47, do you have any figures to compare between petrol FC vs CNG mileage?

I have roughly sort out all the details abt CNG conversion except for a question which a fren ask me recently and I couldn't reply him.

He was asking since the rebate is 40% off OMV, will the PARF be affected when he send the CNG car for scrapping in future? If so, wat will the effect be? Thanks if you could advise. [;)]
