Sony 1st Gear May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 but sadly, most of those design are taiwan replica
Shinichi21 Neutral Newbie May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 thread starter talking about CUSTOM rims on wrx, evo, etc. i seen many evo and wrx here, almost all of them just using normal off the shelf rims. wat u talkin about.
Sony 1st Gear May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 Then I think you have not seen enough... care to share which countries have you seen whereby majority of car will have expensive forged rim?
Wilb Clutched May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 (edited) Yea. Like Rota & Kyowa. Seriously i dont really think Custom rims are a hot fashion, it is just for people to look at your Brake and looks better. 4k+ on rims, how about i buy a turbocharger Anyway my bad for the wrx post. Edited it. Edited May 23, 2007 by Wilb
Sony 1st Gear May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 If you term rims such as Volks TE37, Zigen fireball or Enkei NT03 +m as normal off the shelf rim, then I wonder what is the special off the mould rim that people should be buying.
Shinichi21 Neutral Newbie May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 wat forged rims u talkin about, from the pics it looks.....sux. no offense. im talking forged rims like HRE, DPE, IForged, etc. i agree that the benefits are more important than the looks. but those HRE cost like 15K sg dollar for 20" rims, i dont think u want to put 15k rims that dont match the looks and type of the car. well, if u want to be laugh at, u can put it though. Sony 1st Gear May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 that Saab is already on LPT liao... Customised rim is usually for bling factor... and the benefit doesn't really justify the cost of getting one. Designing and making a good rim is not easy. there's good reason why some rim cost over a thousand while others can be brought for less than $
Wilb Clutched May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 Okay you win, you got those HREEE, DPEEE rims on your aston martin.
Shinichi21 Neutral Newbie May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 not majority of cars. but the particular market that is being targetted like wat the thread starter wanted to do. like indonesia, japan, usa. most of the cars of course stocks. but if u see from the mercedes, bmw, ferrari owner, etc. most of them upgrade and mod, using expensive forged rims. its very popular u know, the waiting time for all these high end forged custom rims kinda like 2-3 months. but u see merc, bmw, ferrari owner in sg..... they certainly have the money but....still stock. Wilb Clutched May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 (edited) Those crazy thousands of customised rims is for Cadilacs those hip hop gangsta style in US those R&B celebs get wan, i dont really think that normal people will buy them. Wannabes Check out Bape founder, Nigo ride. Edited May 23, 2007 by Wilb
Sony 1st Gear May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 Seems like you don't have much knowledge of rims at all except with those names which you keep repeating. There's a lot of forged rim out there. If you don't understand forging using rotary press or high density grain polishing, then don't make comments that make you sound like a kid. and I shall repeat again that look is secondary for astute driver. Shinichi21 Neutral Newbie May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 thank you. im just stating the fact about cars in singapore. i seen it and im sure u all seen it on the road. its rare to see a nice pimped up ride. not talkin about modded proton, vios, lancer, etc. but cars like merc, bmw, etc. coz thats wat the thread starter wan to target. i hope the thread starter understand, so he wont start a business that will make him bankrupt lol. Sony 1st Gear May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 If changing a rim, no matter how expensive, is considered a mod, then I think the frequency between us is not synchronise at all. There's plenty of way to make a car look good and at a more cost effective price. Rim, to people, is just part of the car. It's not going to take center attraction coz you can hardly appreciate its look when it's on the move. if it's for performance, there's plenty of cheaper and more reputable rim for owners than to go and customised one where there's no R & D done on it. Shinichi21 Neutral Newbie May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 i know theres many forged rims and brands. but im sure u know the different in quality. or u dont? i know u can get forged rims from many country in this world, taiwan?, japan? but u cant go wrong with rims like HRE.its been tested and proven by many drivers. yea look is secondary....but if u can get the rims which match better to the car, then why not? there are many brands to choose from. Sony 1st Gear May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 Frankly, there's not much incentive to get customised rim as the ROI is not there at all. the old saying always hold water, "let's not re-invent the wheels"
Sony 1st Gear May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 Sure, when i strike Toto, I will buy you one piece of HRE since you like to whore it so much.. Pls let me have the model no, PCD and size you wanted. You win
Shinichi21 Neutral Newbie May 23, 2007 Share May 23, 2007 ya plenty ways to mod and cost effective. many jp brands which are good too. but thats not wat the thread started talk about, he want to find out about custom rims which should cost considerably more expensive. i think thats where many people in sg goes wrong in modding, most start their mods in the bodykits 1st. Rims should come 1st coz it affects more, like the performance of the cars, the looks of the cars. they can have the most outrageous looking kit but with stock rims...it just look crap. i rather get a car with a nice rims with no bodykit than a car with nice bodykit but crap rims. ↡ Advertisement
