Pisces69 6th Gear June 5, 2007 Share June 5, 2007 Guys... Heard anything about T.P recalling all vehical with HID light and have it change to the normal light..I heard HID is going to be ban soon.. any comment?? thanks .... ================= Great news. About time too. SG roads have excellent lighting & we don't need HID here. Just allow HID spot lights which can only b used when we go up north. Pisces69 6th Gear June 5, 2007 Share June 5, 2007 In the sixties when Halogen bulbs started to replace normal incandesant bulbs, people were also complaining about overly bright headlamps shinning into their eyes. With the invention of parabolic and complex refector lamps, this problemis no longer an issue. Similairly, there is nothing wrong with HID. A properly fitted HID is not glaring nor blinding. In fact, on a factory fitted projector HID, you can easily make out the cut off line of the beam. EU regulation for HID are very strict. What I suspect LTA would be using them as a benchmark. 1) The headlamps must be correctly aligned according to the regulations. 2) The vehicle must be fitted with an automatic headlamp leveling system. 3) The vehicle is fitted with an automatic headlight cleaning system. Without such the dirt acts as a diffuser for the light and distributes it in areas beyond the prescribed range. ====================== Then why so many vehicles have blinding HID's shining in my eyes??? All PI cars??? I don't think so. Maybe the owners adjust them higher to intimidate other motorists to "Get out of my way U nobody".
Pisces69 6th Gear June 5, 2007 Share June 5, 2007 It's kinda ridiculous. Not that I'm running on HID, but there're many out there who paid a premium (thousands of dollars) just to upgrade their stock Halogens to HID (OEM) from their agents. Especially those 3 series bimmers and mercs. Find this move unfair. ================== Not only this. Many pple did many things without first making sure it is authorised cos they want to show off. Now they have to pay the price. Why wud someone change to after-market HID's? Unless they travel to MY very often, but then they can just install high power spot lights & cover them in SG. Pisces69 6th Gear June 5, 2007 Share June 5, 2007 When they shine into my rear view mirror, I feel like demolishing the car! ===================== Carry a 1,000,000 candlepower searchlight in your car & if those buggers irritate u with their misaligned HID's, just give them a blast tru your rear window. Pisces69 6th Gear June 5, 2007 Share June 5, 2007 Hahahahahahaha........Cos he better try to sell it now otherwise later cannot "recover" his cos of installing the illegal HID's. Keithhiap 1st Gear June 5, 2007 Share June 5, 2007 (edited) to avoid inconvenience for myself. but a bit hard pain to sell after paying 400++ i have used for just 1years, installed last year May 2006 i am driving Lancer, and fitted with angel eyes. i usually turn on the pole light (angle eyes) in the night, unless come to area where light is needed, then i on HID. also when i wanna speed, overtaking, i will on HID, to inform you to give way when i am coming from far i am not lao lan, cause angle eyes will give u an impression i am far away. my speeding not those racing one, just overtaking nia la which results speeding :) Edited June 5, 2007 by Keithhiap
Carcraze 1st Gear June 5, 2007 Share June 5, 2007 friend... its an offence to have non-approved type HID fitted... can be fine up to $1,000 or a jail term of up to three months for first offenders. check out this article by Christopher Tan http://motoring.asiaone.com.sg/drivers/20070430_001.html this article also came out in newspaper sometime bac.... good luck to those using super glaring HID dunno for wat... yes i know that. Those who install illegal HIDs are just taking the risk. what i'm trying to say is that the ban for HIDs (factory fitted but without auto-leveling system) is not confirmed yet. Takashimaya Neutral Newbie June 6, 2007 Author Share June 6, 2007 auto lever system is not that fool prove too...once driving back from malaysia east coast,my friend harrier was tailing me and the whole night his HID shine on and off my real view reflector...i learn later that i was because of the uneven road condition that cause the HID auto mode to shift the beam up and down.......i think its quite dangerous....malaysia road rage don't play play..... Ronnie Neutral Newbie June 6, 2007 Share June 6, 2007 LTA wouldn't ban those. Else might as well ban all Lambos, Ferraris, Aston Martin and Posches. They don't have Halogen options. i don't have a problem with these cars even if they have spot fogs. because their lamps height is at most car's license plate level.
