Aiyoh...those were 1983's standard. Most cars were not tested for such thing. In fact most cars, particularly the contis, still think that building a car as tough as a tank is the safest for the people inside it. [;)][;)][;)]

20 consolidated, so give it 5 years lor, China can make it one. Whether their entry into market is good and hard like tank or the present thing, ppl will resist it at first, so I think they test market only. They already have rockets, so what they can't do?

Another VW. Hard as a rock. But the driver and passenger will have broken neck, dislodge joints etc.

[sweatdrop][sweatdrop][sweatdrop] Drive safely, no wreckless driver, no speeding. If you drink, don't drive. [sweatdrop][sweatdrop][sweatdrop] Afterall we don't drive a car to crash.

I think some China car will get close to the mainstream car's standard in the next 5yrs time. They are progressing rather fast. It's normal that when the industry is new..their main concern would be to make/sell more affordable cars. After that, they will be 'forced' to upgrade and improve.

China don't need another 5 years to catch up with Jap/kor in the automotive industry, they already built fighter jets, submarines & space rockets, whats a car to them?

Its their business mentality and moral values that are instilled into them, also many of them have no pride in their work.

Look at the Japs in the early 80s and Koreans in the early 90s, their products are also crap. However, they have a totally different mindset and attitude compared to China.

So its not a matter of lacking in technology, its about the way they think. How long to change a person's mindet, 5 years? 10 years? Perhaps 20 years? Nah, it will take a whole generation.
