Mach Clutched July 4, 2007 Share July 4, 2007 Picture a bit dark to see clearly, but the front car does look like a Mk 1 Cortina with the round rear lights. Dunno what the other one is, but its not a Morris Minor.

Genie47 1st Gear July 5, 2007 Share July 5, 2007 I didn't know about this classic until I watched a documentary on History channel. The 1937 Cord 812 Phaeton [inline rdcs_37cord.jpg] First car to have concealed headlights (pop up headlights). First car to have electro vacuum activated shift mechanism. Fingertip gearbox and shifts when the clutch is depressed! Front wheel drive! V8 engine with supercharger giving out 170 horsepower. Chrome exhaust pipes on the sides. [inline rdcs_37cord_pipes.jpg] This car is 70 years old and is more advance than my car!

Turbonetics 2nd Gear July 5, 2007 Share July 5, 2007 this car is cool. but how come the front wheel is wider than the rear.
Genie47 1st Gear July 6, 2007 Share July 6, 2007 (edited) It is the drive mechanism. It is a front wheel drive car but the engine is a Lycoming V8 in longitudinal alignment. No torque steer because the driveshafts are equal length. The most famous death on this car is this silent era cowboy star. He avoided some obstacle but the hard braking caused the luggage that he put at the rear seat to fly forward hit his head and killed him! I must say this car is damn cool for that time and even now. Very advanced. BTW, the front of the car, it's design is called the "coffin format". Edited July 6, 2007 by Genie47
Genie47 1st Gear July 6, 2007 Share July 6, 2007 The car that killed Jayne Mansfield damn terok! Her fallen wig caused people to believe her head was decapitated in the accident. James Dean's Porsche accident I guess is the most famous.
