This particular AD do not allow owners to bring their own engine oil during servicing. I do not like the engine oil they using. Warranty will be void if maintenance servicing not done with them.

Any advise?

haha, anyway, this AD is well known for not allowing consumers to bring their own engine oil for servicing. But it is not unethical. It's just their policy.

haha..thanks all for contributing to my research.

Anyway, my ethical cases shouldn't have any conclusion to start off with(they must be quite grey) and company policy can be counted as unethical policy as well.

Let's just talk abt the oil issue

Erm..ethical issue to be discussed will be something on

Forcing customers to buy their expensive oil

From a customer point of view it is unethical because they have to incur additional cost

but if we were to think from AD's position that they are tied down by their supplier and have to help the company make profit, then it will not seem that unethical anymore.

we need to look at one issue from various different angles before concluding

how about buying from PI if you do not want warranty. for PI cars, I do not have this 'pressure' to stick with them cos its limited warranty...quite useless in my opinion.

we are talking about a major AD, not workshops, you sure your team can make any difference, force them to change their policy?

I am afraid that is not our intention..we are supposed to only conduct research..not force any changes
