Check your horn fuse. Most likely blown. Happened to my previous Airwave before.

+1 on the horn fuse, did you press the horn for too long recently? Meanwhile slot yr key into the gear panel hole, shift to N, start the car and you should be able to shift to D & R.

I don't know for Civic, but isn't there some kind of shift lock override button next to the gear shift lever?

Maybe a silly answer to someone.

But maybe the next time when you park, try not to park until the edge of the car park.

It happened to both my automatic cars that if i park until the edge of the lot (The rear tires touching the edge), i will have problem shifting from Park to Neutral.

There no written word on it but a small cover where you can dig out. Places a correct side of object press on it and shift the key.

Unlike toyota there is a shift button ready.

side track a bit. from what i hear, most of you need to depress your foot brake before or got some catch to release before can change your auto gear? my forte seem to be no need. got one time bloody dangerous. i put my 3yr old in front car seat, on engine and aircon and go put shopping bags in behind passenger seat. she change the gear from PARK to REVERSE. and because my handbrake was not fully engaged, the bloody car slowly inching backwards when my half body was in rear passenger side and her in front passenger seat. I use whole body weight to tahan the car and calmly guided her to push the gear back to PARK. i know from the PARK to REVERSE got a zig-zag sequence but somehow she managed to change gear. so from that day onwards, no matter how hot the car is, i NEVER on engine and aircon until limpeh is sitting in front and just before driving off.

What can i say...

your girl have the potential to be the first SG F1 racer...

jokes aside.. really dangerous to leave your kid alone in the car espcially in the front sit...

take note that it is not advisable to place your kid in the front sit coz in case of an accident, the front passenger air bag activated will cause more harm than saving kids life...

my 2 cents...

Lucky yr kid can understand yr instructions [sweatdrop]

I think most auto car have a solenoid to prevent the lever to be shifted from P which is actuated when you press the brake which contacts the brake switch. This switch is used for brake lights also

However if gear is in Neutral , etc this doesn't applies
