Trex101 3rd Gear July 27, 2007 Share July 27, 2007 (edited) Ok, after getting inspire by buster from BITOG on his oil grill torture test, i also did a simple test myself. Initial i use aluminum foil but test fail as the aluminum burned through and oil leak out after 5 min on hot plate. Then i use aluminum cup and everything went well. Test subject: x brand Synthetic 5w20 Test: 20 min on max temp 6 min after test, oil start to boil and smoke. 12 min after test, boiling stopped & smoke level drop. 20 min, test stop. oil pour away but no sludge found. Next test 30min torture, i would pit Synthetic against Mineral or Semi Syn and see what heat can do to the oil. If anyone want to donate any oil for me to test, i would be very grateful. Prefer mineral group I & group II oil. Edited July 27, 2007 by Trex101 ↡ Advertisement
