why? is Varta SLI battery known for exploding?

 

I'm using a black varta batt and I just found this out from their website...very surprise to learn that their MF batts need top up...I now must go and check if can top up in the first place...

 

All automotive batteries require a certain amount of maintenance.

you mentioned that this is your second batt...did you check if its cranking and cranking current and its capacity is enough for your car? the only reason that batt can explode is when during craking that batt does provide enough cranking current and so there is an over drawing of current by the car...that what I'd hearn so far from workshop.

suspect your ez stab is the cause as it is a capacitor.

capacitors have positive and negative plates positioned very close to one another.

it might have caused the short

this replacement battery has the same rated ampere as the previous.

n i always practice to turn off the aircon n the HU before cranking.

juz my luck i guess...

 

but i was fixated by the comment made by apollo...

coz my battery was not secured using the bracket since i'd bought the wrong one. ie. the terminals shd be on opposide side.

shorting batteries have bad consequences, it may have happened. did water get into the voltage stabilising unit?

Why Varta? is it prone to explosion? My varta battery also died on me recently without any warning.

Paiseh, I copied the threadstarter post over.

 

Just like to share with those whom are using "Varta" maintanence free battery. Got it less than 1 year (think is about 7 months).

 

Just "blew" up for no reason when trying to start up the car. (The side of the casing was "splitted open" Luckily was at a car park instead of moving. Hence, for those people using this battery, you might wanna have it check... (AA have check it, it should be faulty Battery, alternator not overcharging)

Thks. i'm using Varta MF battery too. it died on me recently and my mechanic also check and say its the battery problem. i find it a bit sudden cos there's no tell tale sign tat the battery is giving way. it might have blown up too but i had used it for almost 2 years liao

Get hold of a bottle dish washing liquid , hot water and keep on cleaning.Diluted sulphric acid from the battery is corrosive and will overtime start "eating" up metal surfaces and even painted surfaces
