Recommend a tyre that protects rims

As above guys, am looking for such a tyre, their sidewalls actually protrude to protect the rims. Other aspects to look out for: Good performance for both wet and dry. My specs are 215/40/17. Budget less than $200. Preferably nothing made in Thailand and China.

Thanks guys.

One I can think of is Yokohama ES100. Got rim protector, V threads for performance but u must be able to tahan the sound effects after abt 1 yr usage.

Oh that... They say its an old model, might not have stock. And it cost like $250 a piece. How about the A drive, S drive... any idea if they offer rims protection?

Thanks.

bro, i'd personally recommend u the toyo T1Rs @ $180/piece based on ur tyre profile. DOM is 2007. price quoted by YB. meets all ur requirements. [nod]

Toyo T1-R sucks. I skidded once with that tyres, it screeches when doing u-turns and its rim protector feature doesn't work. Probably very good for drifting. It doesn't inspire confidence when going fast around bends.

I am on Goodyear Revspec RS-02. Better than Toyo T1-R in every aspect except that it is darn noisy.

Actually all these so-called rim protectors only protect your rims against those low kerbs. It's useless against the higher kerbs that we have in SG.

The best bet is to have a wider turning radius, then you wont strike the kerbs liao. But do look out for traffic and drive safe!

Rim protector only work to a certain extent. it really depends on the driver.

If you just drive right into the kerb, it still doesn't work. It's only for those light drive-thru to the kerb which rub the tyres rather than rim.

For your budget and requirement, try the Korean or maybe German F1.

Yeah, sometimes when I stop I have a tendency to stop my car too near to the kerb on the left. That's why my left front rims quite badly scratched. My other rims are ok though.

Korean you mean hankook? f1 is michelin?
