How much oil required for K&N filter?

Did my first cleaning of my K&N filter last week. I've oiled the filter yesterday according to the instruction manual. However, only one side of the filter has visible oil or seemed to be tainted with oil.

The instruction manual stated that both sides should appear red. I didn't manage to get this effect even after oiling on the same side twice (manual specifically said DO NOT Oil TWICE).

I'm worried too much oil might affect the MAF sensor and too little would render the filter not as effective. I oiled the other side of the filter today. No dripping of oil on either side and both side doesn't to be oiled excessively?

Any advise on how the oiling should be performed to get it done correctly? Thanks.

Thanks. i applied approx the same ml recommended by the K&N sticker which was pasted on the box but i oiled both sides instead of just one. Also oiled one side twice initially. Keeping my fingers crossed that i did not "overoiled" the filter.

Here is what I do after I wash the K & N filter.

I used the hair drier to dry up the filter element, next applied the oil onto the element as per instruction twice dan put in on top of some used newspaper to let any excess oil drip and absorb by the newpaper.

The next day just drop in the K & N and you'll a properly oiled K & N. At the time being, if you need to drive while the K & N is being oiled and let overnight to drain, you can just put back the stock paper filter to used for a day

sprayed with the K&N cleaner followed by washing it with running water. by the way, if anyone wants to get a K&N cleaning kit, you can get it from a motorbike shop opposite Sim Lim, i think it's complex (not the one selling IT stuff). Cost me $18 only

I use the K & N washing lotion, if you are using the drop in filter, spray on the cleaner side and let it soak for 10 to 20 mins while it is on a big plastic/metal basin, depending on how dirty is the element.

Wash the element by letting tap water run into the cleaner side of the filter.
