But I did mention in one of my previous posts too that it's not that big an issue, just treat it as one of the many drivers who signal wrongly, or forget to turn off their signal, etc.

 

When in doubt, slow down, and switch lanes to overtake and siam the 'offending' car.

 

If the driver behind is alert, it won't be a big problem. But it's undeniable that hazard lights while on the move does cause confusion to other drivers and it's ideal that it not be practised. [flowerface]

lets be objective and forget about who is right or wrong for the time being. May I know which part of it that you find confusing and may not be a safe practice when a hazard light is siwtched on while on the move under extreme weather condition?

 

A car with hazard lights means that it's stationary. To find it otherwise certainly sends the wrong signal, especially for a prolonged period. We also know some people turn on the hazard lights momentarily to warn of danger/hazard ahead. We also have drivers using the hazard lights continuously, instead of front and rear lights, to indicate their presence. Thus, there are 3 ways to interpret the hazard lights, when, as then name suggests, they are meant to inform other drivers that the car is now a hazard, so drive carefully. I'm not sure what others think, but why risk that element of surprise?

I don't see the point of this thread at all.

 

If drivers deem that their safety is compromised and the risk of getting into an accident can be further reduced by turning on the hazard lights, so be it lar! [:/]

 

1 simple thing as that can get so many people complaining. Sigh no wonder garment want to regulate every single thing. [:/]

Don't count me hor. After driving for so many years how would a blinking hazard lights confuse me, I wonder? If in doubt, so slow down or siam lor.

i don't want to say what is right or wrong, but to highlight extreme weather condition.

 

on the NSH, some times the rain is so heavy you cannot see the brake lights of the car in front and the head lights of the car behind. this is in bright day light. the hazard lights do become very useful in this case. with it, you can judge the distance of the car in front and behind. relying on the brake lights and headlights is not helpful enough if you cannot see them clearly and even judge the distance.

hazard light is to give warning to road users.

not for stationary vehicles only.

when a car infront of me ON his hazard light while driving,i will take precautious measures to keep a further distance.so even if he make a turn,i will still be safe.

so how about those who turn without signalling?isn't it very common?

 

If the car in front of me brakes suddenly with some cars at a certain distance behind, I do try to turn on hazard light (if got time) to warn those behind to slow down quickly too. Kenna kissed at the car back side before by some kuku who cannot brake in time.

The fact that it causes doubt out of nothing - that's confusion. Even if it's momentary.

 

But you don't assume that ALL drivers on the road can react as well as you or will get confused only momentarily. Some panic and make mistakes. Mistakes which affect other road users.

 

Why do you signal? So that other drivers will know your intention and can react accordingly.

It's for the good of everyone. Why do you need to signal if you don't require the driver behind to do anything outside the normal course of cruising behind you?

 

When you turn on hazard lights while driving in the rain, you are not doing it for the good of all road users. You are doing it to protect yourself and the occupants of your vehicle. Nothing wrong about that, but you are doing it in a way which is detrimental to others. It's unnecessary.

To the stupid fella driving along ECP this morning around 7:20am when it was raining quite heavy.

 

Please don't turn on your hazard lights JUST because it starts to rain heavily. You are NOT doing anyone a favour but instead, causing confusion to ALL. Nobody knows if your CTR spoil, if you want to turn left, want to turn right...

 

In-fact, you are the ONLY joker doing that.. maybe you are tying to attract attention to your CTR? Don't be so ho-lian.... drive CTR only..not Veyron.

i think its quite normal for pple to on hazard lights during very bad weather. unless u got rear fog light and front fog light

 

previously when i was still serving ns wif the MIB, on super heavy downpours we even on blinkers and hazard lights to drive.
