Buy used car plate

Hi,

If I am buying a new car now and bought a used car plate eg EL xxxx K, how much do I need to transfer it to my car prior registration?

 

Can anyone help. LTA closed today.

To transfer to new car, is $100+ dollars nia.

 

Transfer to used car will be way more expensive.

Thanks guys, I ahve checked website. I know it is $1300 to transfer existing vehicle. $100 o transfer MY plate to new vehicle. But what if I buy an old plate from ANOTHER person? How much to transfer it to MY name before I pay $100 to get in on my new vehicle? The LTA site does not address it...

Its very troublesome brother.

 

LTA regulations do not allow for you to buy the car plate.

 

What you can do is to buy the car from him. Then transfer the car plate from that car to your new car. After that, sell the car back to him after the car plate number has been transferred

 

Costs incurred:

1) Number plate (depending on agreed price)

2) Transfer fee (depending on car)

3) Retention fee ($100)
