Chickenbackside 1st Gear October 4, 2007 Share October 4, 2007 From what you describe, actually Windows or Mac will work just fine. I was a hardcore Windows guy before switching to Apple. Now, I will never touch a Windows again. Both machines can do everything, but the difference is the way they go about it. The Mac interface is simple and elegant. Everything just works. Macs do hang, but the frequency is very very low. Ever since OSX Tiger, it has been fantastically stable, and I push my machines to the max (audio/video). When something hangs, it's usually just the application and doesn't affect the rest of the computer. Expensive? Maybe if you compare specs, Apples are expensive. But when you start using them, you will realise that they are just as or even more efficient than Windows machines of higher specs. My 10 year old Apple is still working perfectly and is still relevant today. I can do normal stuff like surf the net and office stuff on it just as efficiently as my 3.0GHZ quadcore Mac Pro with 16GB of RAM. I know there are many anti-Mac people around, but just try it. For Macmini, it's good for day to day apps, but make sure you get the intel version. The power should be about the same as my Macbook No games though. For games, get an iMac or Macbook pro.
