By the way you should try Logic 8. Logic 7 has lots of bugs and no updates for almost a year liao. One of my customer(broadcaster) has severe lip-sync issues when syncing audio to video .

 

If can afford, change to MacPro. You will see much more realtime effects under Logic 8 as it is specifically written for Intel chips.

I already have a quad 3GHZ MacPro running Logic Studio.

 

I was just wondering out loud cos I have been using Logic 7 on a dual G5 for a few years and never had any problems. My friend keeps saying he sees more than 3GB RAM being used in Logic regularly on his setup.

 

No problems with latency with video/audio syncing with Logic 7 for me...

The problem is with MacPro. Logic 7 was not optimized for the Intel chip, hence the problems I mentioned. Running under Rosetta is not foolproof.

 

If you use Adobe After Effects CS3 on MacPro you will have a worse problem. Must of the 3rd-party plugins will nogt be detected at all.

 

BTW what soundcard you are you using with the G5 ? What is the latency ?

u can always pop by the retail appleshop at funan or wheelock place they do offer 0% installment for credit cards.. but mac's price are rather well controlled. so that's no/ little chances of 'cheaper' buys
