However, recently I was told that washing powder solution contains an ammonium compound. If not washed off with water, some ammonium compound crystals may form on the brake rotors, reducing the braking efficiency. So now, it is car shampoo and sponge. Wymun Neutral Newbie July 20, 2002 Author Share July 20, 2002 Thanks. I've tried the 3M rims cleaner. Works pretty well. You just need to agitate the solution on the rims after spraying - me using one of those soft-plastic bristles scrub (available in Daiso in IMM for $2). BTW, do u know if using Mintex provides any advantages? Are u using Mintex currently? Sidetrack a little .... is your B14 a 1.5 or 1.6? How much km/l is it able to return? Turbobrick Neutral Newbie July 21, 2002 Share July 21, 2002 I have another suggestion for rims cleaner, try the Volvo rim cleaner ($7.70 for 400ml). Just bought one and used on my brick today, it's water based alkaline solution and cleans without damaging the wheel's painted finish. Nice coconut scent too Can be bought at SM Motors parts dept. Hi, Let me know your review on the Mintex pads once you've installed them. BTW, your B14 comes with front brake discs or brake discs all round? Those w front brake discs only belong to the last facelift (SCV reg onwards). Your consumption figure is not bad . Those N16 owners can rarely achieve your consumption figure. User12343 Clutched July 22, 2002 Share July 22, 2002 juz found out that a cheap method to get rid of the dust.... buy a 80-cent china paintbrush and dust off b4 wetting them... less messy on the hands if u gonna use your fingers to dig into the hard-to-reach areas....
