Jl1500k Clutched February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 Smaller compact and mid-size sedans typically have PSI levels between 30 and 40 PSI. So each time when you visit petrol station for air pump do you check the tyres PSI reading first or leave it to the air pump machine (Auto mode). Some air pump machines are not auto. ↡ Advertisement
Rollagt 5th Gear February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 For me I will let go some of the air in the tyres then inflate to the desired mark. My fren more pro..he let go almost all the air and re-pump to the desired level.LOL But not all the time coz very tired and ppl queuing behind will get pissed. Yeobh 4th Gear February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 (edited) Yr friend is just wasting other people's money - running & maintaining air compressor cost money. In the eyes of pump attendants and those Q up - he looks like a fool. Edited February 10, 2008 by Yeobh
Rollagt 5th Gear February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 He says like this the old air can go out and pump in fresh air.. Duno how good it is for the tyres.
Rollagt 5th Gear February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 Well he is aware that he will create inconvenience that's why he say he do it once in awhile and when there are not so much traffic. now duno he still got do or not.
Falc 3rd Gear February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 I pump after i notice the PSI has dropped by one or two PSI (when cold) using online tyre pressure monitoring system. And I usually pumped more in the front, so there's one time when i caught my mechanics forgot to swap one of the front-back tyres after rotation after i drove off. Jl1500k Clutched February 10, 2008 Author Share February 10, 2008 (edited) Ofcourse i think will not be using the petrol kiask air pump there to release tyres air. Must be using his own air release tool lor. Edited February 10, 2008 by Jl1500k

Kklee 6th Gear February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 Your friend might be correct... by releasing as much hot air as possible and pumping in cold air, he could be getting a much more accurate tyre pressure..... similar to the measurement/adjustment of tyre pressure when the tyres are cold. Huggable Clutched February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 Wouldn't releasing almost all the air make the tyre dislocate from the rims, especially with the weight of the car resting on it? For me I will let go some of the air in the tyres then inflate to the desired mark. My fren more pro..he let go almost all the air and re-pump to the desired level.LOL But not all the time coz very tired and ppl queuing behind will get pissed. Rollagt 5th Gear February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 It did occur to me too but somehow I see him do it nothing happen. Well I think wont get dislocated that easily coz when changing tyres at tyre shop a machine is used to "dig" the rubber from the wheel so shd be quite difficult to dislodge after the air is out at a stationary position. Rollagt 5th Gear February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 Whether its accurate or not I not sure wor.. But we not driving F1 so no need precision tyre pressure. LOL
Porker Turbocharged February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 Most of the stations utilize pumps with digital meters (read Esso and possibly Caltex). These meters will show the tyre air pressure before the pump begins working. Just leave it to the pump to do their job. Its a no brainer and you don't have to fret over it. Rollagt 5th Gear February 10, 2008 Share February 10, 2008 Well the pump does not have any device to release the air..U can use the tyre cap(if yours is metal) and press the nipple..the air will gush out. Hope I had answer ur question. ↡ Advertisement
