Just ask the SE on the OMV for Mazda2 sedan today. It's abt 17~18K...

if u are thinking of getting it, better do so. Current they are still maintaining the price as per last 2 wks. plus the loan is still 2.2%.

Heard that all this will changed on mon.

Kia and Avante already increased their price by 4k and 10k respectively today.

Just visited the showrooms this morning...

I have booked the Mazda 2 sedan today after testing Kia Cerato forte, Hyundai Avante...

Finally choose Mz2 for the following reasons:

1) Control: Mz2 [thumbsup]

Avante steering was abit too light for me(may hav prob during parking) and Forte turning is not sharper as Mz2, something about that Mz2 has traction control feature etc...as the SE explain. The brakes for Mz2 and Forte is solid, but Avante is tad behind in this section.

2) Drive: Mz2 [thumbsup]

Not sure if it's the condition of the test car. But it seems that the Forte is bumpy than the rest(for information, I test drive all 3 models today at Alexandra, on the same road path.) Avante drive was quite smooth, and Mz2 was also stable. I would not mentioned the speed that I was driving, but I think the SE holding onto the seat.

3) Pick-up : Mz2 [thumbsup]

Forte pickup is abit sluggish as compare to Avante and Mz2. Properly due to the weight of Forte. Mz2 has a best pick-up among.

4) Price: Tie

After the recent hike, all 3 cars are about the same price. (U need to go to the showroom in order to know the Actual pricing of that day.)

5) FC: TBC

On paper the FC of Mz2 is abt the same as Avante and Kia...however I would only know this after I get my car (my friend who driving a Mz2 hatchback is avg abt 14km/l)

6) Looks: Mz2 and Forte Tie

Avante really lose out on this cat, thought they have the Avante RS version(full body kit) but the ppl in the showroom shd really look carefully at the body kit. Some parts of the body kits are already peeling off. This make me think twice of getting the RS model...Forte's body kit is quite nice, but I'm sure this will add more weight to the car, thus the FC may...Mz2 is always known for their sporty look(thou I dun like the antenna sticking out on the sedan), as it's a new car(Mz2 sedan) no bodykit is available yet.

7) SE: Mz2 and Avante [thumbsup]

The SE at Mazda and Avante are quite helpful (thou the SE at Avante did left me standing halfway thru the showing but she was quite helpful and patient)...

Kia SE Needs to go for customer service training, they didn't even go thru any aspect of the car and already ask u to sign for the car. Even during test drive, the SE was asking me to sign up for the car, this make the whole test drive really annoying. At this pt, I really got turn off with Kia.

8) Safety: Mz2 [thumbsup]

Mz2 sedan was awarded the maximum 5 Star Euro NCAP safety rating and has 4 air bags. It never pays to be too careful.

I feel that Avante is getting too common on the road(good for getting spare parts), Forte is getting as common as the Avante. Avante and Forte have their reasons on why there are so many supporters.

Mz2 sedan is still new in the market, an unknown. I will post more feed-backs after my 1st wk of driving Mz2 sedan.

The above reasons are my own personnel opinions only, conditions of the test cars and road traffic could also affect the actual performance of these cars.

So please test drive [drivingcar] it yourself to have a feel.

Cheers

Cool! Great to hear ur joining the ranks of Mazda 2 owners soon :)

Hope to see you on the roads soon and remember to post your review of the sedan version...

for mazda 2, i think the hatchback is really cool and chic, more for female drivers. sorry but no offence.

anyways today i saw the mazda 2 sedan on test drive. i gotta say it's really ugly.. like a KIA rio but uglier. i still prefer the hatchback if i really had to choose between it and sedan version.

Welcome to the Mz2 family. Mine is 2004 model Pre-FL . Coming to 5years and still going strong. With a couple of good mods , it won't let u down.

I'd rather take the hatchback, if that's still made in Japan that is, over the sedan.

BTW, the 2008 World Car Of The Year (WCOTY) award and the 5-start NCAP rating was given to the Mazda 2 hatchback, NOT the sedan version.

I don't think this made in Thailand Mazda 2 sedan has been taken through the various international tests yet. So cannot assume that it will be 1-for-1 alike with the hatchback!

Turbocharged

I have booked the Mazda 2 sedan today after testing Kia Cerato forte, Hyundai Avante...

Finally choose Mz2 for the following reasons:

Congrats! I guess this is your first car yeah? Although I have not drove the Mz2 but I've seen the car (hatchback) it's one stylish ride alright!

Does Mz2 comes with all disc brakes? Being a lighter car with good pickup it's good that it has a good set of brakes. I agree that the Avante's steering is too light that you'll lose abit of confidence in high speed cornering. But then the avante is more of a bread and butter car, the Mz2 is more of a "fun" car whose handling is one of the best in it's class.

Being bumpy is a double edge sword, you sacrifice comfort for stability. For this the forte may be able to hold better in the corners, either that or the forte's suspension is not well tuned to it's weight.

3) Pick-up : Mz2 [thumbsup]

Forte pickup is abit sluggish as compare to Avante and Mz2. Properly due to the weight of Forte. Mz2 has a best pick-up among.

The forte's chassis is more for the 2.0 engine I guess, I tested the 1.6 is find it still acceptable but pickup suffer from the 17" rims, looks good but there's the sacrifice.. Really wonder how fast the Mz2 feelo. :)

4) Price: Tie

After the recent hike, all 3 cars are about the same price. (U need to go to the showroom in order to know the Actual pricing of that day.)

Sedan is made in Thailand right? No offense but Mazda car are not known to be value for money no matter what/how they put it in the papers. But then again if you buy a mazda, "value for money" is definately more you top priority.

5) FC: TBC

On paper the FC of Mz2 is abt the same as Avante and Kia...however I would only know this after I get my car (my friend who driving a Mz2 hatchback is avg abt 14km/l)

14km/l is very good. Even a 850kg Vios with 14" rim gets 14km/l average. The older Mz2 is a guzzler of ave 11-12km/l.

Agreed. Both cars got they nice side.

At this pt, I really got turn off with Kia.

haha...too bad for the experience. But serious SE is not a factor for me cos after I get my car, I dun care about SE anymore.

8) Safety: Mz2 [thumbsup]

Mz2 sedan was awarded the maximum 5 Star Euro NCAP safety rating and has 4 air bags. It never pays to be too careful.

Forte/Avante also 5 star right? Only lose out in the number of airbags.

Mz2 sedan is still new in the market, an unknown. I will post more feed-backs after my 1st wk of driving Mz2 sedan.

Yeah at least you're the "trend starter"..haha

Actually you forgot to mention about the aftersales service and the cabin size. But for cabin size, Mz2 still lose to forte/avante but that's not the point as the Mzw is not meant to be a lugguage transporter. But I do feel the interior of the Mz2 is too plasticky and the forte and avante feels slight better for me.

Hi Chogokin,

Many thanks for the welcome, btw do u have any good workshop to intro? Thanks in advance.

Hi Pocus,

U are right, Mazda is transfering the Mz 2 to Thailand, both the Hatchback and Sedan. It seems to be the case for most Japanese maker are shifting to thailand, guess this may the future trend for jap cars... [smallcry]

For the cabin size, I would say that Avante is the best among the 3. Forte is next and Mz 2 will be gd for 4 ppl but if for 5 ppl...hmm...

As for comfort level, my friend at the back did mention that during the test drive that the Forte is quite noisy and bumpy at the back (not good if u plan to do a Jack neo thing [laugh] [laugh] just kidding), while Avante and Mz 2 are smoother. But again, it may be due to the condition of the car on that day...

As for the FC, it would be difficult to judge as each ppl has a different foot strength, and properly also due to the load and number of ppl on the car...but yah...heard that Mazda is normally the thirsty type...finger-cross that Mz 2 is like what they said on brochure 14.7km/l...haha...

As for the aftersales, I guess the Mz SE is still alright. He still pickup my calls and answer to my queries days after I have paid my downpayment. But for this part, I am not really able to compare as I did not have any much references...sorry abt that...

Hi Zapp,

The cost is the same as shown in the sgcarmart. I'm not very gd with asking for freebies, but Mz2 sedan did come with the rear camera...

Hi Byond,

[laugh] ha ha...got poisoned liao...thanks...got any recommendations?

Many thanks for all the replies.
