You Bros, got into an accident yesterday night. This is my first car and first accident - kanna banged on the side [bigcry][bigcry] . Minutes after the accident, I call the traffic police and ambulance. I also contact my insurance company (i.e. NTUC Income). my passsengers in the car were sent the hospital, but discharged. As for the other party, nothing...bcoz is a mini-bus. I have also made my report to the Traffic Police this morning, as per the police at the scene last night.

Couple of questions:

a) Anyone can comment on the procedures I took? in terms of reporting to the police, insurance, etc.

b) Care to comment on the cost for repair cost [dizzy] ?

- Front passenger door smashed (badly)

- Front part of left wheel caved inwards with damage to the body

(It is easiler if I can post the picture of the damange. Can someone advise how to post the pic. that is larger than the limited 384kb?)

c) I am going to claim the other parties insurance, is it possible [:/] ?

d) Will my premium go up [sweatdrop][sweatdrop] ?

Your feedback and comments are most appreciated.

Thank you very the much.

I travelled on the 2nd lane of a 3 lane road and making a right turn at towards PIE (btw, this is a straight and right turn lane). IT was a green light for me and my car was at a complete stop. There was an island and I had to inched foward to check for oncoming vehicles on my left. It was clear henceforth I proceed for the turn. About 3/4 way thru the turn, my front passenger shouted to me that a vehicle was about to crach into our vehicle.....wham....it came....pushing my car to the next lane on my right....I was shocked [shocked] and my front passenger took the full force of the impact. I came out of the car and looked....damn...my first car and my first accident with the ppl I loved most in it....I shocked [shocked] and worried [smallcry] ....next I took the steps I know best, call the police.....an the rest is history.... [:|]

Here are the pictures of my car.... [bigcry][bigcry][bigcry]

the way u describe, it seem to be ur fault. (my opinion only)

you didnt mention whether is the green arrow on? if no green arrow, then it is ur fault liao. if green arrow on, his fault.

Did you cause a traffic jam? Most probably if the TP took down your particulars, you will get a letter with a fine from them. Also, like what the previous person mention, most probably the mini bus will claim from you instead.

looking at the extent of the damage on your ride, i must say bro, the good Lord is on yours and your loved ones side.

no one wants an accident, much last your very first ride. so long as you and your loved ones are ok, it's a blessing in disguise. come to think of it, if it is a truck and not a minibus, it could be a lot more.

hope your insurer will do something about it bro [nod]

1) call ur mech. check if he is Ntuc listed.

2) goto IDAC/ ask ur NTUC listed mech to arrange for IDAC inspection

3) if other party is also NTUC, u may hv slight problem. but usually the NTUC will give him even though his bidding may b higher.

4) if other party is not NTUC, easier. you just arrange to claim 3rd Party.

5) u hv to sue the insurer for other party and driver jointly for personal injuries. (must goto public clinic, and must ask clinic to issue medical report and pay for report, report will take ard 14 days.)

6) make sure the medical cost include up to any recur cost in the future as well.

this type of case 50/50. my father friend kena, he is a school mini-bus driver.

he claim the other party just dash out n causes him to e-brake but too late. so 50% liability. he was faulted for not 'anticipating' at x junction.

looks like u have totalled yr ride. tough luck.

From your description, you have a part of blame, how many percent? Its up to both report and both insurance will fight inclusive hospital bills.

As for claiming 3rd party, better not.Claim ur insurance at the expence of losing your NCD next premium if you lost the case.

The car is repairable, lucky your passenger is alright

>hmmm....I checked and there was no oncoming traffic that is why I moved off....I am puzzled....

Then did you check properly ? How come you can miss a mini-bus ?

Checking oncoming traffic, ensure it is 100% clear then move, else wait until green arrow.

I don't mean to be a wet blanket neither do i want to censure you. However, in order to answer your question, there is only one key question.

Was it green light or green arrow? If its the latter, you have a case because it means it should be red for the minibus. However, if it is merely green, you may have to shoulder the bulk of the responsbiility because he has the right of way.

take care and good luck
