Holysniper Neutral Newbie May 19, 2008 Share May 19, 2008 I do one handed (i.e. palm) turning, with my other hand supporting the steering wheel in case i need to grab it for an emergency. Never cross your hands... its possibly the most dangerous way to steer. i using one hand steering and turning using palm ( even u-turn ) too. my left hand will be either on the gear knob ( manual ) or on the arm rest ( auto ).. unless i going abit too fast den i will using my left hand to support on the lower left corner.. ↡ Advertisement

Naresh 1st Gear May 19, 2008 Author Share May 19, 2008 (edited) It is quite interesting how one abandons what one learn in a driving school. Use "Palming" during your driving test... and you will fail the test. And yet so many here use "Palming". It make you wonder if "Palming" is a more practical technique when driving on city roads. Fitvip Supersonic May 19, 2008 Share May 19, 2008 I use "palming" in car parks. On straight roads, usually 9-3 position, and 90 degree turns, one hand either left or right, at 3 or 9 o'clock position and pull through!

Boyboy 1st Gear May 19, 2008 Share May 19, 2008 i wonder how do the drifters do it. i've had to apply opposite lock on my humble ride on more than one occasion. though i don't know exactly how that happens, i believe it's one-handed palm with support from the other hand. Requiemdk 1st Gear May 19, 2008 Share May 19, 2008 (edited) We don't do performance driving every single minute we're on the road. Just use whatever works. Palming and hand-over-hand may be dangerous in the event of an accident, but if one can kenna accident in the carpark or in low speed city driving that activates airbags and fractures one's arms, then maybe he shouldn't be driving in the first place... Yes yes there may be other cars that can hit your car and activate airbag blahblahblah. Walk under hdb flat also can kenna falling roti, so if so scared, then don't walk, don't drive, stay at home better.
