Its all about being different from the rest. Its human nature to differentiate oneself from the common others.

The sort of rebellion nature since young is carried over to cars.

When young you want to tuck out your shirt, girls school uniform don't wear the belt, short dress, wear nike shoes instead of bata, etc.

 

For cars,

You want to use a different sets of lights.

Youw want your lights to be bluish, to be xenon bright.

You want your antenna to be short and with blue light.

You want your washer spray to be super big and with blue light.

You want your interior light to be super bright with blue light.

You change the headlight and rear light to different tint.

 

Its all about being different or some say Individuality!

AFAIK, to turn on factory foglights, the pole lights(small lights) must be turned on first. Those who turn on foglights only, might be trying to find out whether will they get fines because maybe they are thinking foglights can replace headlights.

 

Our TP seems to be lax because travelling along CTE, I have the same observations including those who turn on headlights and foglights.

Probably they think it's safe to do so or just a bad habit.

 

It's like asking.... if no vehicle, do we need to signal or why cars still turn on the signal indicators when the road marking specifically indicate can turn only (left or right) ?

Because there are lots of f***kers who like to speed up and cut you off the very second you start to signal. So, to make sure you can change lanes smoothly, sometimes better not to signal.

i shall be honest. i am guilty of (2)

 

the reason... almost everytime i signal, the car will speed up even if i am half across the lane... and IMHO i think it puts me in a more dangerous situation than if i had filtered without signal lights.

 

And humans are selfish, we will of cuz protect ourselves over others.

Yes, so many people with the freaking bright fogliaghts on but TP closed one eye. Sometimes I feel like slowing down and go behind these people and turn on my foglights or highbeam. Let them have a taste of their own medicine.

 

I would agree on not signalling when there are no cars etc but what I mean in my question is, why do some people weave in and out of the lanes without any indication? Anyone who is not alert may just bang into them.

 

I just realise a new trend, that is, change lane and signal at the same time. C'mon to signal is to indicate to other motorists that you intend to change lane, and not turn and signal at the same time!

because sometimes lazy fingers and it is safe to do so,then no need signal loh.

but if i had to switch lane last min,i will signal.

Actually in sg, most roads are well lit and visible hence, i feel that the purpose of switching on headlamps is more to let other motorists see you from the rear and side mirrors. However, by switching on fog lamps on such well lit roads, visibility is in fact affected for other motorists in front as it is glaring.
