Loki Supersonic June 10, 2008 Share June 10, 2008 I read from a dental brochure abt wisdom toothThey are the last teeth to develop, erupt or come up in our late teens/early 20s. We can have up to 4 wisdom - 2 upper jaw and 2 in the lower jaw. Mine was 2 in lower jaw and affecting the tooth in front as its grew 45' slant so need to remove.. if not both teeth will decay Some ppl dun have such problem thus can ignore it.. Mine on one side was horizontal. did it at National Dental Centre and got 5 days MC. But the procedure was hell because my gums did not stop bleeding. After the extraction, dentist asked me to sit outside and wait to see if bleeding stopped. so waited for about 15 mins then went back, and the dentist had to put in more stitches for me. Waited again and then, another round of stitches but by then, anesthetic almost wearing off already. After that, 1 more round but the dentist told me never mind, you go home because there is no more space to put anymore stitches!
Poper 2nd Gear June 10, 2008 Share June 10, 2008 (edited) For those of you who have wisdom teeth, at what age did it appear and at what age did you extract it? I found out I have a wisdom tooth coming out of the gum a year ago. No pain although sometimes there is 'feeling' at the tooth area. Similar to the feeling you have when your permanent teeth came out to replace the milk teeth. Dentist say it will unlikely be a problem as most who have problem occur in the late teens or 20s. I'm 32. I hope he's right. I'm in mid 30s but due to x-ray on a tooth-ache, my dentist spotted 2 lower wisdom tooths not extracted yet(i can't remember how many I extracted b4)... Then, she suggested extraction in case they cause problem in future.. I tot wisdom tooth mostly cause problems in 20s?? If I got no problem now, should I play safe and pull out the remaining two also? Hmmmm...5 days mc? Edited June 10, 2008 by Poper

Ahgongwolve Clutched March 13, 2009 Share March 13, 2009 Yah 5 days mc Not sure lei, its best to ask for doctor advice. When pull out wisdom..the tooth they dispose? or ask us to keep? Not easy if there are some cavities already.. my friend had the tooth buckle while extracting and had to undergo surgery to slice open the gum to dig out the roots and the risk is that there are facial nerves in there.. and if the doc cut too deep he may have his face distorted.. he had LA and had like 5 injections into his gums and cheek
Vulcann 6th Gear January 3, 2011 Share January 3, 2011 Hi all, diggin' up this old thread to ask some questions: (i) Anyone has got any wisdom tooth extraction lately? (ii) Any of your dentist to recommend? (ii) Charges? Am asking because my family dentist found out through an X-ray shot that the cause of my lower right toothache was the result of a "impacted" wisdom tooth onto the molar next to it, thereby causing it to decay. He wanted to extract both the molar & the impacting wisdom tooth but I was hesitant to remove the all-important molar & wanted to save it. So I thought of just removing the wisdom tooth & try to save the molar either through filling or maybe the more expensive rooth canal treatment. As such, I am trying to seek a 2nd opinion from another dentist. Advance thanks to anyone able to answer these questions.
Byond 1st Gear January 3, 2011 Share January 3, 2011 Wisdom tooth cost approx $400 to $500 to remove (Depends on clinic, specialist or just a normal dentist)... 5 days mc the same goes for root canal = $400 to 500, but u need to go back approx 3 times, in 3 weeks to dig out the nerves and stuffs then, u need to fork out another few hundreds to have a protective cap on the root canal tooth, else, the root canal tooth will crack easily. Hi, First of all, thanks for the response. It is really not cheap to visit the dentist... :( Tried to book an appointment through a polyclinic to get a referral letter but the earliest date they have is two months later. As the pain is unbearable (which explains why I am up this moment) I have to seek alternative treatment ASAP. Do u have any dentist to recommend? PM me if it is not convenient to reveal here. Once again thanks!

I was very reluctantly to remove the any tooth. The dentist recommended to remove both as I was having gum inflammation. He said by removing the impacted tooth by itself is no problem, but if the molar also has decay, need to be remove too. Another option is just remove the molar and leave the impacted tooth alone. Then asked me to return a week later for extraction after inflammation subside. I took the full dosage, swelling subsided and till now almost 8 months. Still reluctant to remove. The thought of not able to chew on one side really put me off. I have fear of losing my molar.

Exactly my fear as well to lose the molar. Once it is extracted, there will be only one side to chew food which is why the hesitation to take it out. *sigh* Just crossing my fingers that the removal of the irriating "wisdom" ( what's so "wisdom" about it anyway?) tooth will solve my problem... Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear January 4, 2011 Share January 4, 2011 hi..anybody have lobang for good and experience dentist ? am looking for wisdom tooth extraction Always had a phobia visiting dental..been eating painkiller/antibiotic to stop the unpleasure feeling on the gums/tooth. After a few months , pain back again..sian 1/2 is there any pain during the minor op ..? I have take x-ray and found there are 2 wisdom tooth After losing a few teeth over the years, got this to share: Rinsing with salt solution after meals can reduce tooth decay, even rinsing with drinking water helps Gum infection/swelling painless/painful needs dental exmination(s), if due to root canal infection, extract that tooth (can not savage for future infection)

Puteh83 1st Gear October 12, 2011 Share October 12, 2011 Sorry to dig this old post up, again. Experiencing discomfort at the back of lower right gum for for about 4mths . Sometimes damn painful, sometimes just irritating. Note, this is the same exact place I've had an wisdom tooth extracted before. Then while rinsing my mouth after food last week(same painful feeling; chewing food on left side), I decided to examine closer and guess what, another wisdom tooth. The gum has grown over it, thus causing the discomfort. It's like eating a chewing gum and leave it there. Yes, rare but possible I guess. Now the qn is, any needleless extraction? I'm super duper afraid of needles since I was a little boy. The though of the dentist holding the needles has been putting me off. Another qn, do the dentists in orchard road equates to good? ↡ Advertisement
