Wisdom tooth

Sorry to dig this old post up, again.

 

Experiencing discomfort at the back of lower right gum for for about 4mths . Sometimes damn painful, sometimes just irritating.

Note, this is the same exact place I've had an wisdom tooth extracted before.

 

Then while rinsing my mouth after food last week(same painful feeling; chewing food on left side), I decided to examine closer and guess what,

another wisdom tooth. The gum has grown over it, thus causing the discomfort. It's like eating a chewing gum and leave it there.

Yes, rare but possible I guess.

 

Now the qn is, any needleless extraction? I'm super duper afraid of needles since I was a little boy. The though of the dentist holding the needles has been putting me off.

 

Another qn, do the dentists in orchard road equates to good?

Ya man.

Showed my friend(doctor) lastnight and he told me that the kuku dentist who did the 1st extraction did not remove the root.

 

Guess I'll wear a mask then.

Last year I went to this Oral Maxillofacial Practice at Camden Medical Centre to extract 2 wisdom teeth. Charges are more than govt dentists but not that much more expensive. I thought they did quite a good job. The dentist I looked for was Dr Winston Tan. You may want to call them up to check on their charges before deciding whether to go to their clinic or not.

Wonder the dentist who extracted your wisdom tooth got licence or not?! How come didnt completely extracted the whole tooth?

 

I always think extracting wisdom tooth very scary and painful, esp if your tooth is deep inside the gum! That's why until now i still dont dare to extract mine.

Hi Bro, would recommend Dr Tay Pek Lian Sylvia from Khoo Teck Puat hospital. She is very skilled.

 

I just did mine a month ago. Mine is impacted in the gum and fairly complicated with the nerves very close to the tooth. ie >50% chance of nerve damage. But I came out with my no damage nerves. Could eat solid food the 2nd day. Also no blue black or swelling on my jaw the next day.

 

They are very chop chop and it's not so personalized but my impacted wisdom tooth extraction only cost less than 700 bucks. Very reasonable.

 

P.s. Just to add I stay in Upp Bt Timah but willing to drive all the way to Yishun. It's worth it.

The dentist you went to is a lady? I heard lady dentist might not have the strength to remove the entire tooth? So did you walk in or require to get referral letter?

Anyone been to or heard of NTUC dental, the dentist is skillful and good in tooth surgery?

I would recommend Dr Henry Kwek. His clinic is in orchard (opp cineleisure). Can just google his contact.

 

My wife went to him for a number of dental procedures including 4 implants and crowning and wisdom teeth.

 

She has zero threshold for any form of pain (childbirth had to be epidural even before contractions has been induced) and she said she didnt feel a thing under Henry Kwek.

Painless as in during the surgery or after the surgery or both? Looks like many so called recommended specialist dental all located in orchard area? Does it mean heartlander dentist all "no good" for surgery?

Luckily I need not remove the upper wisdom tooth as it is not biting the lower gum after the lower wisdom tooth has been extracted.

Yes, I was recently recommended to remove both upper and lower wisdom teeth together to avoid gum-biting problem once the upper tooth loses its "partner". Then again, now I know that it's best to wait and see what happens, rather than extract unnecessarily.

 

Or can actually get to claim more MC if spread out the wisdom teeth extraction over two sessions...

 

For those thinking of doing it... best to go to a clinic located at hospital such as national dental centre, or my personal experience, at alexandra. Nowadays very modern, extraction is almost painless. But what happens after, once the painkiller wears off... Rent a lot of DVDs to watch through the night to take your mind off the pain!

painless during procedure. After is minimal, didnt hear wife complaining abt pain.

 

She tried a female dentist at ktp hospital. Was quite painful, according to her.

 

Btw, henry kwek's charges are alright. Maybe abt 30% higher than public hosp (i think). But cannot use medisave and cannot use credit card.

Why you said best to wait and see what happens, rather than extract unnecessarily? I think remove wisdom tooth esp if it is done by surgery, confirm will be painful after the surgery. Cause the dentist needs to cut off certain parts of your gum! Same theory like it you go for any operation, also will feel painful after the operation!

after 4 years of delaying my wisdom tooth extraction, i have FINALLY removed one

 

 

 

Quite a fast procedure, just about 30 min and tada ..done! I even kept the 'tooth'

Best is to remove the wisdom tooth lar bro as it will give a lot of problem to the rest of the teeth. I had to remove 2 of my molars (upper) even though both wisdom teeth (upper) had grown normal. The lower wisdom teeth was operated on and i have no problem with the lower set of teeth. Now thinking whether i should do bridging or inplants for the lost.
