Khoo Tech Puat Hospital? 3 years back when my late aunt was admitted to A&E due to cancer complications, I saw that they had a nice printed poster saying all their wards are full. A&E was also almost filled to the brim, and she had to wait overnight in A&E before transferring to a ward.

 

I wonder if the situation is still as bad these days.

Khoo teck puat hospital? Think needs to wait quite long for appointment, esp if my gum/tooth is painful now.

 

 

they should have express one (pay slightly more but still lower than private), i went there to remove my first molar tooth which could has possibility ended up for surgery, thanks the senior lady dentist able to extract without breaking it into pieces. She is a small size old dentist but quite well know from Alexandra hospital.

Some private dental clinics are authorized to use medisave for wisdom tooth surgery. Note that it's surgery, for those wisdom tooth that grows horizontally and needs drilling to extract. Normal extraction which costs about $100, you cannot deduct from medisave.

 

I went to this private clinic for my second round of surgery, due to bad experience from the first. The doctor who did my surgery was Dr Tan Min Seet, had a much more positive experience and recovery. Their clinic is medisave-accredited.

Grow under gum ones have to do surgery but you had them removed? A few days mc for these cases.

Wisdom tooth surgery uses local anesthesia, so you will not be unconscious.  If you want to be unconscious, the clinic will have to call in an anesthetist which will raise your charges.

 

If your wisdom tooth surgery is complex, make sure you go to a clinic with an orthodontist and oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Your run of the mill dentist may not be the best person for the job.

actually i went there and on the spot she wants to extract the tooth after explaining the complication.... i am not ready to take 1 week MC if end up need surgery (actually mentally not prepared ), i fixed another appointment 1 week later

Well, if you go public hospital route, luck of the draw.

 

Private clinics will list the qualifications of their dentists on their websites.

It was recommended by my usual dentist, who did my first wisdom tooth surgery. He struggled for almost 2 hours when the expected time for surgery is 30 to 45 minutes. Not to mention he caused some permanent loss of sensation on my lower lip due to his actions in breaking the tooth, which caused minor nerve damage due to the proximity of the wisdom tooth to the main nerve line at the jaw.

 

I can go on for the horror stories of how some people get a permanent drool due to nerve damage during wisdom tooth surgery.

 

Anyway this doctor is a maxillofacial surgeon, so he's good. Took only 7 minutes to drill and extract my wisdom tooth, from the time the LA set in. His nurse commented that 7 minutes considered long, usually it's 5 minutes, my tooth is harder than usual. That's why I would recommend him.

 

Also, other dentists give you Ponstan for pain management, he gave Panadol. After 1 day, don't even find the need to take it, and I was already chewing on drumsticks.

 

No need to go for GA for wisdom tooth surgery, LA will do. If you are scared of the drilling sound, can ask the doctor to play his music louder.

Haha, mine gave me Arcoxia and Panadeine plus the usual set of antibiotics. It was sore for a few hours, then like you, I could eat normal food the next day!

Mine was honestly quite shitty. Took damn long (the effect of the inject was wearing off!) and I also had temp nerve damage so the area below my lips were numb for months (I think it still feels a little numb now but I am used to it).

Which surgeon you went to? I am thinking for complicated wisdom tooth surgery, it is better to go to private hospital surgeon?

Went to raffles hospital, mine was lower jaw, tooth growing sideways n need to chisel the jaw bone to pull out the tooth, the surgeon had to use alot of strength in the process

 

The dental surgery room was quite spacious, if u r scared type, can have someone accompany u into the room, he/she can be with u thru out the surgery

 

Could start eating after a day, stitches were nicely done, no infection

 

Overall, was a positive experience

 

Wont recommend going to neighborhood clinic, my 1st was done in one of them, facilities and skills definitely not as good as hospital

Sounds like your dentist quite skilful, furthermore he is a maxillofacial surgeon, should be much better than normal dentist?! If I were to do my wisdom tooth surgery, it should be quite complicated since mine is grow horizontally and very near to nerve line. That's why until now i still very scare to go do my surgery, cause don't want to end up i have permanent nerve damage due to the skills no good of the dentist.
