Akula Turbocharged November 19, 2008 Share November 19, 2008 If your car scrap/re-export, yes can get back road tax provided its stated/agreed before hand. If for sale locally, then no.
Ahyoo2002 2nd Gear November 19, 2008 Share November 19, 2008 For my case, I drove my car almost to the last day of roadtax, so whether I get back road tax or not is not important. Same apply to my insurance, get back nothing as I drove my old ride till almost the last day, cancell also no use.
Ahyoo2002 2nd Gear November 19, 2008 Share November 19, 2008 You are right. If COE goes slightly up this time round, I am expecting RSZ to be around $80K. Bad news for you. COE drop further. Those who gotten COE this round can get COE rebate of about $5k so they are paying like $73.5k for their RSZ
Silver_blade Turbocharged November 19, 2008 Share November 19, 2008 Not really bad news for him lah. He already got his car at a low....just that he could have gotten it lower.
Ahyoo2002 2nd Gear November 19, 2008 Share November 19, 2008 Haha, I feel he mind a lot that people may get cheaper than him. For me, I am more or less ok as I think even COE at $1, the price I pay now is still good. And, when strong Yen starts to kick in, even COE at $1, the car price will not be too low compare to what I have. And, again as I said earlier, it is easy to have $1 COE
Wolverine23 1st Gear November 19, 2008 Author Share November 19, 2008 Emm.... $73.5K with $4.9K COE VS $75.5K with COE at $13.4K i guess i still "make"???
Wolverine23 1st Gear November 19, 2008 Author Share November 19, 2008 actually, I am very happy with my purchase price lah.... already very lucky with the unexpected surge in JPY!

Wolverine23 1st Gear November 19, 2008 Author Share November 19, 2008 I believe Mazda 5 will see $69K and RSZ will be at $77K.
Wolverine23 1st Gear November 19, 2008 Author Share November 19, 2008 Roh96... Actually, to be honest, who likes the feeling of paying for something and then dropping by 10k within the next 2 weeks? However, both Ahyoo and myself had gotten good buys. - The price of Mazda 5 has dropped $7k - 8K in line with drop in COE. This is low compared to the past prices of Mazda 5 which was hovering around 80k.... - The price of the RSZ has not dropped even though COE has dropped $7K. Furthermore, I am getting a very high OMV of $25K!
Ahyoo2002 2nd Gear November 19, 2008 Share November 19, 2008 I make the decision myself and I am happy with what I bought . Enjoying it every momeny inside the new car now
Roh96 6th Gear November 19, 2008 Share November 19, 2008 Yah this is bcos we are trying to time the market trying to hit the bottom price. Just like buying shares. But i really see no point tracking RSZ or Mz5 price closely anymore since both have collected your rides. Just enjoy and don't look back. Cheers. Roh96 6th Gear November 19, 2008 Share November 19, 2008 Precisely, even Cat B drop to $1 or Mz5 or RSZ drop to 60+k also LL right? It will be good for those new buyers. For the rest of us, just enjoy our car lah and don't look back.
Wolverine23 1st Gear November 19, 2008 Author Share November 19, 2008 i am enjoying my ride and posting in the forum as well! Also not timing the market as the pull factor for me was that KM has bought in the RSZ (that why I bought it as soon as it was launched!)

Silver_blade Turbocharged November 19, 2008 Share November 19, 2008 actually, I am very happy with my purchase price lah.... already very lucky with the unexpected surge in JPY! I'm glad you are happy. I feel this should be the way most should think. Not everyone can get at it's lowest price....often it's more luck than anything else. Like I have posted before, I feel we have to see the bigger picture than just looking at purely the list price of the new car. We have to look at the whole package. Silver_blade Turbocharged November 20, 2008 Share November 20, 2008 (edited) You got it at a good price lah. There may be some trade offs if when buying now eg. lower value for trade in used car, etc....but in return you get a cheaper new car. The diff may not be that much if you factor other things eg. higher OMV, higher used car prices, etc... To be honest with you, I was toying with the idea of selling my other car (another opel driven by my mum now) and get my mum a new ride since the prices are low now. But some ADs did not even want to take in any trade-in or give me lousy value for the body ($1K vs $8k in Jul).
