Genie47 1st Gear October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 When such thing is encountered, check your ignition system. Might be a plug that is misfiring or a wire loose. ↡ Advertisement
Nerdie Neutral Newbie October 5, 2008 Author Share October 5, 2008 Update: I wanted to change my spark plugs, so i opened up to find out that 2 out of the 4 spark plug holes had water filled up. The seals was slightly corroded I've always had servicing done at Kia... Called them up, and they told me to leave the car at Kia today, sent it there to keep overnight for servicing tomorrow., will find out tomorrow what's going on. THanks for all the help
Stress Neutral Newbie October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 Bro, Never wash your engine bay. Water will slip in and this is what you get. if you have never wash it before, ask Kia for an answer. YYYYYYYY??????? Let them rectify the fault. Normally the spark plugs are changed in every servicing unless you tell them not to when you are using highend plugs that can last more than 10,000 in mileage
Genie47 1st Gear October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 As I've suspected. Ignition. Fuel is a suspect but it is the last suspect usually. If you encountered fuel delivery problems, can go buy your favorite lottery ticket.
Fcw75 Hypersonic October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 Engine bay can be washed. There's always a engine cover on top of the engine mah.
Nerdie Neutral Newbie October 5, 2008 Author Share October 5, 2008 I just found out that my father and his friend washed my engine bay 1 week ago when i was overseas, after they found it "too dirty". Even then, water should not get into the spark plug wells.. got cover, and seals..
Fcw75 Hypersonic October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 I have always wash the engine bay of my vehicles at my workshop. No such problem. But must use an air gun to blow dry the engine bay after washing though. Your car got engine cover right?
Genie47 1st Gear October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 Most workshops do not tighten plugs with a torque wrench.
Nerdie Neutral Newbie October 5, 2008 Author Share October 5, 2008 Yup, got i got cover!
Fcw75 Hypersonic October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 Maybe the plugs were not tighten properly?

Fcw75 Hypersonic October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 Na bei, that's why I never like to go AD for servicing. Can't see what they are doing and dun even know if they really got change or not. Prefer going to a workshop where I can see what the mechanic are doing.
Chosenone Neutral Newbie October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 Sometime these pple in the AD do not really knows abt cars aniway. Those so call service engineer that is what they call themselves is actually like those serving food at mcdonald, they just take down ur order and just pass it to someone else. When problems occur like the problems u just mention which is jerky they will ask abt what petrol. Are we stupid enuff not to read the manual and pump the correct petrol grade. Some of them do not even know how petrol is graded for example octane 98 etc. They want to siam once got problem so they do not have to entertain us. Don't they know that engine computer is just a unit of controlling and actuating of sensors and servos or solenoid. The only problem will occur in ECU is that if it is contaminated with water or a high surge of electric current shorten the system or maybe the semiconductor inside the engine computer have defects. For this kind of problem it could be due to misfiring of spark plugs. I do not know how they wash the engine, maybe with a high pressure water jet, but i can guess that water must have slipped into the spark plugs hole due to worn out dust cover of the spark plug hole or maybe the cover is no fix in proper manner during last installation of spark plug. Vicz Neutral Newbie October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 Thanks guys for all the replies so far...It still is under warranty, less than 3 yrs old. Yup, i pump Shell 92 99% of the time.. i always thought the petrol talk was all bull.. and i still think so.. VIcz: How much did it cost to change your cylinder?? Sigh, i hope i don't go broke over this! ha ha ha.... u don't change the cylinder, just the sotong & probably the spark plug... all in all plus workmanship probably $200 plus odd. u don't have to leave a hole in ur wallet. Vicz Neutral Newbie October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 bro, sometimes even if u can see what they are doing... u also may not be able to advise unless u are an expert urself, if u r one, probably u should be doing it urself then bringing it there. Nerdie Neutral Newbie October 5, 2008 Author Share October 5, 2008 My car can still run, just that ECL on, in 'safe' mode....is it still possible that water got into the combustion chamber? I very scared need to change engine.
Ahdi Neutral Newbie October 5, 2008 Share October 5, 2008 no worries. if ur car is less than 3 yrs and u go for regular servicing by them with no modification, its their problem. if u haf any mods, take them out b4 goin back. this is to prevent them from pushing the blame to not honour the warranty.
