I got no choice when i moved into my current place, standard fitting of sanyo. I would say good for the first 7-8 years. Approaching its 10 years now, my room's unit is almost dying.

Mine Samsung after 6 yrs of usuage has finally given up!

I would prefer Mitsubishi...think its more realiable...

Side track abit...if not necessary to have aircon, fan will do as it will save u more $$$

[nod][nod] using mit non-inverter for 5yrs plus...very powderful and reliable...no fault...

anything but Carrier, not that the air-con is not cold, but their aftersale service suck..

Sanyo and National not bad....

fujitsu is another brand I wouldn't recommend.

Not sure whether was it the poor installation or poor QC for the unit... The 1 year 2 month a/c units I have in my club broke dow a few times within a year. thumbsdown.gifthumbsdown.gif

unless you know how to dismantle it, otherwise, no use...

what the AMK Hub is selling is cleaning what you can see, what you need is to clean even the back part of the cooling coil that's important..

I heard alot stories abt Carrier, but then they have contract with the bodies here.

Fujitsu heard parts are [sweatdrop]. Personally, I will go for hitachi, sanyo or other jap brands.

BTW, have you changed/install aircon? Remember several months back, u had a similar thread.

I was about to change because one of the unit was not working. but put on hold for now as it was a minor issue where WD40 did the trick.

But if the unit in my room is down, I'll need to speed up the process.

currently, I'm having 2 units. So, I'm still considering whether I want to upgrade to system 3 or 4 (1 for the living room), but bearing in mind that if I install a unit in the living room, I'll need to install a 'door' leading to the kitchen and chances are, am sure somebody will sure switch on the unit unnecessarily...unsure.gif

[laugh][laugh] some electronic stuff also depends lucky or not,

for air-con, most important thing is the trunking...some contractor anyhow come,

they just aim to complete the task..if the trunking is not done properly, water gets stored inside and the next thing you know is the air-con starts dripping... [sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

most people go for inverter. get those with 5 tick ratings

got 10 ticks or not?

i see the most is only 4 ticks leh.

10 ticks? got. PM me to arrange. I tick for u additional 6 ticks...[:p]

Get the inverter. You ever see utilities bill rate come down?

Which inverter is up to your research. I personally am using a Toshiba Inverter. I do not know if other brands are better.

One instance of one blower unit board spoil but this is covered by the 5 year warranty that came along with it.

So get that warranty and shop around. I decided on Gain City after they quoted me the same price as the other shop plus 5 yr warranty.

And you aircon pipe routing is important. Try to go for the most direct route and don't cover the route permanently or make it too difficult to access cos when later to check for problems or repair.

I was told that Toshiba aircons are actually Carrier (taken over by Toshiba or something like that). Is it also true that for inverter a/c, there's a tendency for quite a number of sensors to spoil?
