Oh thats great.

I go ask my CO and hopefully i can go cos she has church every sunday.

See if can skip for a week.

 

Even if i dont go track can also follow with you guys to see see look look right?

All fun aside one should take pre-track inspection before subjecting their cars to punishment.

 

Brake Fluids

 

Engine Oil Level

 

Brake Pad - Don't tell me you have 2mm of meat left and by the time you finish your track it will be just nice to change. You will be surprised how quickly the pads will finish at the track and if you want to go cheap on such item, once the pad finish, it will be metal on metal action. By than you will have bigger headache as you have to change pads and rotors.

 

If Brake Hose are visible, check to make sure they are secured. There have been brake failures caused by loose brake hose.

 

Brakes - If you feel your brakes are beginning to feel spongy and no longer bite as much as they used to, slow down, go for your cooling lap to allow your brakes to cool down. Unless any of you are running 1000deg pads, most of your factory pads will give up 5 laps or less depending on track layout. Don't kid yourself thinking an overheated set of brakes will continue to function. Your brakes do not work well because the pads have overheated and there is a layer of hot air inbetween your pads and rotors. In extreme cases there is no contact with rotors and pads.

 

Do not pull your hand brake after you come into the pits. Your pads will fried that portion of your rotors and wrap it. Most pits are designed with level grounds so that you car can remain stationary without pulling the hand brakes.

 

Tyres must have sufficient thread. You want to make it up to JB you better think about how to make it back.

 

Driver must have plenty of fluid the night before going. The heat affects your judgement of speed and braking points.

 

Exercise common sense, you car cannot take a 90deg bends at 200kph so don't try.

 

Windows must be either all up or all down. Not half way. Reason is because in an event of a crash, if you head tilts to the right, even with helmet, you can sustain injury or worst, death. If people want to be stubborn, your life, your choice.

 

Always drive within your comfort zone. If you are driving out of your comfort zone and your head starts to fill with plenty of question marks as to whether you can take that corner at that speed, than you are driving above your limits. If you are driving above your limits, things start to happen. Start in incremental steps. Increase speed incrementally provided you are comfortable.

 

Do not follow the car in front of you. Just because the car ahead of you can brake late, turn late, carry more speed, does not mean you are able to do the same. All cars are different. Be aware of your surroundings. As this is not a race meet, cars should not take the inner line without your knowledge.

 

This is a basic list of things to take note. Make sure car is in overall good condition. Enjoy yourself at the track and take plenty of photos and post.

Its not a racing championship with million bucks at stack. Enjoy urself but in a safe way.

7th dec....but then again...is it possbile to only play like 2 hrs? cheaper right? dun think my old car can last tt long and i'm only planning to give it a shakedown thats all..since its a weekend what are the rates like? they go by hour right?

I forgot to add. It is not a race meet like what you said. No points for 1st place. Most important thing is that everyone pick up a skill or two before leaving the track to make your money worth while.

 

I hope everybody can learn something out of this track day as it can be invaluable to your daily driving activities.

one point about hand brake. i believe that even for cars with 4 disc brake, the hand brake actuates the small drum in disc at the rear.

 

having said that, i will remember this tip even tho i have drum brakes. never thought of this issue before.

 

actually, i seldom brake much at the PG track. usually only after the two long straights then need to really brake. my car really WAY too slow [blush].

u are supposed to wear shoes too. so at least BRING a pair of shoes to the track. not sure if they enforce this ruling.

 

for helmet, hot but no choice, u have to wear. basic helmet will do, shd be able to find one less than 20, and that is for safety-approved helmet.

 

oh yes, time to clear out all the junk in the car. dashboard decor, soft toys, rubbish. put it all at home. otherwise like me u have to remove it at the pit and look like a c0ck.

 

please for goodness sake bring your spare tyre n jack n etc. even if u don't put it in the car (pretty dumb to take it out imho). u need not bring it for laps of PG. just leave it in the pit lane. i've needed to use the spare tyre before.

 

u may wanna top up v power or higher octane. up to your personal preference [:p], since u will be "clearing carbon" at the track

Venue:Rideout Mac ( Commonwealth Ave) OR Woodlands Mac ( Woodlands Custom)

Cost: Rm120 for 3 hrs

it's not abt me not daring to go to the limit of my car. it's the car really no power at all. 60+bhp, 1.1 tonner [sweatdrop]

 

but give me a 1.6 getz and i may not be able to maximise the extra power. wait til i upgrade first then say (not so soon [laugh] )

You on the other hand, aren't contributing anything to this thread, except trying to discredit the good advice that is being dispensed here for the track newbies.

Unless you are able to exmplify your concern for the well being of relevant members anticipating the upcoming track day, you really have no business here and only serve as an impediment to everyone in this forum.
