Genie47 1st Gear December 18, 2008 Share December 18, 2008 Any idea where to get these. BD is damn expensive. I'm looking for alternatives. Preferably a box of 100. I saw this selling on Amazon but not BD. USD13 a box. I want to exhaust local sources before I get from Amazon. ↡ Advertisement

Kxbc Turbocharged December 18, 2008 Share December 18, 2008 I thought you should know the best place since you are in this line. I got my cat's sub-Q supplies from TTSH. Needle is less than $0.04 if I recall correctly but not sure if 30G. I was using 18G. Not sure if they are cheaper. I heard about the Fu Lu Shou shops too. Another owner told me about it as she gets her supplies there.
Genie47 1st Gear December 19, 2008 Author Share December 19, 2008 (edited) 3/10cc is 0.3cc loh! 30G is the needle diameter. Bigger number, smaller diameter. 31G the most comfort but also the most expensive. Got 29G but more painful. 5/16in is the length of the needle. Finer gauge needle means shorter to maintain strength and rigidity. There are 1/2in length needles as well. 1/2in length, cheaper. Genie47 1st Gear December 19, 2008 Author Share December 19, 2008 (edited) Paid 58 for a pack of 100. BD Ultrafine II. To me, damn ex. I'm looking for 1/2 that amount or 25cts/needle-syringe. No need BD. Looking for other brands like Terumo, Kendall Monoject or the one selling in Amazon, Masters Healthcare Easyject which costs USD13/100. If buy 5 or more, it will be SGD0.25/needle-syringe. Edited December 19, 2008 by Genie47
Genie47 1st Gear December 19, 2008 Author Share December 19, 2008 18G is too damn big lah! This one use on human. Finer gauge the better. OK for all of you who want to know. Mom is diabetic and needs insulin injections. So comfort is most important. Even for a cat, I rather use 21-23G. More comfortable. If you have seen an 18 or 19G's thickness, it will scare the hell out of anyone let alone a cat.
Porker Turbocharged December 19, 2008 Share December 19, 2008 18g is only for elephants!!! You using Humulin R or Humalog for your mum?
Genie47 1st Gear December 19, 2008 Author Share December 19, 2008 No idea. The needles are more expensive than the insulin itself. I'm irked that she is re-using the needles 2 or 3 times. Bloody BD needles damn expensive. Must get cheaper ones somewhere else.
AngelEye Neutral Newbie December 19, 2008 Share December 19, 2008 contact the sales person... they can get u better price. Alterntively, switch to the Penfilled type, then the cost of the needle is cheaper and easily available.

I saw this selling on Amazon but not BD. USD13 a box. I want to exhaust local sources before I get from Amazon. Polyclinic is selling cheap. Just approach the phramacy counter and produce the out-patient card and request for needle. They will check for the record on the card and sell it to you at discount price. Kxbc Turbocharged December 19, 2008 Share December 19, 2008 The vet uses 21G but I couldn't find any so I bought 18G. XX tolerated it quite well as the fluid runs in faster (150ml per day) than 21G. Luckily for me, she does not need the daily sub-cut now as she is drinking sufficiently. The daily sub-cut was really damn stressful for both the Wife and myself. The cat struggles and mews pitifully, the Wife holds her and I have the most unpleasant task of injecting the needle into her. Think about it also stressed. Kxbc Turbocharged December 19, 2008 Share December 19, 2008 I thought the needle is one-use-must-throw-away? 2 to 3 times runs the risk of contamination if I am not wrong (sorry I am not medically trained).
AngelEye Neutral Newbie December 19, 2008 Share December 19, 2008 it's okie to reuse the needles if it's only on herself. Not an issue. Serious!
AngelEye Neutral Newbie December 19, 2008 Share December 19, 2008 this is only sub -Q no problem to reuse the needles as long as it's kept away properly and cap the needle properly. using it 2-5 times is not a problem, ↡ Advertisement
