Sony 1st Gear December 30, 2008 Author Share December 30, 2008 I think a straight comparison with CSC2 from Hankook is the S1 Evo, not the RS2. CSC2 to me is a balance between comfort and performance which is similar to S1 Evo. The RS2 will be much noisier and also more uncomfortable, but performance wise better than S1 Evo. oh.. maybe i got confused. which is more for tracking? S1 evo or RS2? anyway, the price at hankook seems to be going up as well. the V8 which i got have serve me well, including the great service by the people at toh guan and pasir panjang. but in all fairness, the V8 seems to take in a lot of road noise after 40k mark.. but in term of grip, wet and duralibity, it's definitely a thumbs up. For those with exhaust louder than their MiL, i would say the V8 is a good choice.. further comments I got is that their new V12 is noiser than V8.. thus I venture out to look at other alternatives.. never try, never know.. but must know what to try 1st.. Toalson 1st Gear December 30, 2008 Share December 30, 2008 I was on CPC II before I changed to hankook v8rs. CPC II in my opinion, is a good set of tires. Had then running till 55k mileage before I changed as I felt the grip is going below average. Long lasting I felt. Correct me if I am wrong. I felt that CPC II does not have as good a grip as compared to v8rs. But my v8rs just finished its running in a few days ago. Oic, guess we all had very different felt to its performance. However to add, the CPC2 have the added advantage of not being directional tires thus would have a better overall wear.
Chickensoup 1st Gear December 30, 2008 Share December 30, 2008 But he does rotation and balancing every 10k... and his car is fully sound proof... I don't think CSC2 is that well on wet compared to CPC2.. but then, thanks for sharing.. btw, what car are you having? I am just drivig a one of those common Germans.. I had some tyre guru friends, all of us tried many different brands including Federal, Nanking and top notch Mich, BS, dunlop, falken, toyo, etc...finally we came to one conclusion : Buy Bridgestone Japan tyres. Those series made in Thailand is usually noisy. Hope you make a wise tyre choice. My 2 cts again, avoid Korean brands
Protege 1st Gear December 30, 2008 Share December 30, 2008 S1 Evo is the 2nd in line in terms of performance range from Hankook in Singapore. V12 performance is lower than S1 Evo. As far as noise is concern, S1 Evo will less noisy then V12 but more noisy then V8. To me, its a balance between performance and noise. I have friends using the CSC2 and S1 Evo and he commented that S1 Evo is quieter. I have personally use PP2 before, they are not that quiet and performance is nowhere close to S1 Evo. Since you like to try something else, do feedback ok? Its always good to know more about other tyres.

So far, my best experience is with Hankook. I know that lots of people still have doubts of Korean product. However, after trying, I am a firm believer. Do note that Hankook has links to Michelin. As for Jap Bridgestone, I have a GR80 which is about 1 year old and travel about 25000km and they sound like a train already. Just my 2 cents. Just my 2 cents. some time back i had tried Hankook tyres, can't remember the model, aggressive patterns, runs great. I even change to a 2nd set but this time, the one of the tyre got oval. Why I didn't change to 3rd set is because the prices started to go up. Not much different from Yoko prices, so I bought yoko. As time passes, a used car i bought was fitted with BS brand new from dealer. The pattern was not impressive at all like GR80. Then I was surprised, the wet grip was good, long life and quiet. Then I switched to a set of Dunlop which is again cheaper than BS. But the life is like 60%. So after one big round, I found that BS is value for money grip plus long life.
