Value for money Ultra High Performance Tires

After reading through the Tyres and Rims threads, I'm of the opinion that Kumho KU31 remains the most value for money UHP tries among the competitors. I guess, F1 probably comes pretty close. The 2 models have strong followers too.

If a 225/45R17 is about $160 a piece, I wonder what other UHP (whether underated or unpopular ones) can beat its price. Any suggestion?

Thank you.

Just changed to Goodyear (MIJ) Revspec RS-02 225/45/17 for $170 yesterday.

Eagle Revspec RS-02 Makes it Two in a Row for Goodyear

Category: International

(South Brisbane/Australian Tyre Dealer) For the second successive year, Goodyear has won the best overall performance tyre award in the annual Wheels magazine tyre test with its Eagle Revspec RS-02 235/45R17.

The tyre is part of Goodyear's already accomplished performance range and joins the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 as a Wheels award winner.

The Wheels tyre test judges the best overall performance tyre over five different driving tests including wet and dry weather braking and cornering and an open slalom run.

The RS-02 was judged top of the class in both the dry braking and wet weather cornering tests, together with solid results in the dry cornering and wet braking categories. It outperformed tyres from many of the world

That's a good price. May I know where you bought them?

It looks like a decent and award winning UHP need only to pay around $160~$170 based on 225/45R17. Anyone know beside GoodYear and Kumho, any other UHPs are at this price range?

Thank you.

i believe eagle is cheap now cos of low uk exchange rate, while bridgestone price will go up as shop owners claim high yen (for stocks imported in maybe 1 yr ago)

kelpie asking for fun or seriously considering?

from ur usage pattern (besides normal driving in SG, high speed runs up NSH with family), dun get RS2. it's noisy.

kumho i never try before. just try and give us the FR lah [:p]

revspec seems more like a comfort tyre. but the threads dun look confidence inspiring. i'd rather the eagle F1. steering feel is vague but who cares? wet grip more important.

Thanks. Anyway, Goodyear doesn't seem to have 225/50R17 that I'm looking for.

v8/s1/v12 , 452

You mean Hankook V8/S1/V12 all cost around $160~170 for a piece of 225/45R17? I've used K104 and K105 before. Wanted to try out a different brand of equivalent performance like F1 but not at a price premium. Already used 2 sets of F1, kinda find them noisy after 15K.

f1 is noisy cos of v groove design, try those with straight groove like csc2/3 or pp2

in thread pattern wise s1 will be the closest but its compound is definitely not on par with the top 3 brands and tend to noisy after a while too

i done close to 30k on csc3 and still pretty low noise
