Hi,

I have been in your shoes before.

I went for the test drive for CVR before and I am driving FIT RS auto now. These are the pro and cons of each car (to my own knowledge)

CVR vs FIT:

Pros

- more unique. got the air vent in front. some say like mini evo. lesser seen on the road.

- more powerful. 154HP vs 120HP. definitely no fight when stock vs stock.

Cons

- drink more as compared to FIT. (arvg 11-13km/l vs 13-15km/l)

- smaller interior and boot space

- less flexibility in terms of storage space (FIT's seats can be folded up for more storage space)

- Higher maintainance.. (assuming turbo car needs more serving)

- interior design a bit dated as compared to FIT.

I choose FIT as my final choice is because i wanted a car which can drive for long term(hopefully), and FIT is SLIGHTLY more

family car (in terms of space and fuel efficiency) as compared to CVR.

But if you want more X factor and the kick of accelerating from 0-100km/l in sub 8sec, go for CVR.

PS: Although I am driving FIT now, CVR never fails to attract my attention whenever it passes me.

my 2cents. Cheers.

Turbocharged

Although the CVR is not really considered a performance car.... it's still considered a fast car with a good acceleration. The problem is, for a new driver, this kind of car is very addictive to drive FAST. The car literary zoom off with only a slight dip in the accelerator that even a season driver will feel the kick out of it.....and becos it's addictive, young drivers like us, influence by all the crap in initial D/F&F...will definately love to drive this car FAST.

And you....as a young "just-pass" driver....I seriously DON'T RECOMMEND this car to you....not that I see you no up to wat, but due to the power of the car...you can easily lose control of the car if you push it to a limit.... The problem is, this car can easily be pushed to it's limit.

let me quote you an example:

At driving school, you drive normally at 50km/h...swerve and braking is easy. At 90km/h, normal for SG expressways, you swerve and brake....still managable. In fact most experienced drivers might have experience and done it in their lifetime...whether is delibrate to an evasive manuver... At 150km/l, you try to swerve and brake...you see wat happens..... even fewer drivers done it cos who drives at such crazy speed in SG? And the scary part is the CVR can take you to 150km/l piece of cake....at that speed with no driving experience only spells TROUBLE....not only to you but to other roadusers.

And dun give me those "I won't drive so fast" or "Sg where got place to drive so fast" excuses cos we all, as drivers, know that SG roads can drive so fast if you got the "chance". And unless you got no temptation, who in the world can resist "power" give given to them?...You may be the most disciplined driver in SG but all it take is "just speed this one time only"...and that is how accidents happen...esp fatal ones.

Stick to the FIT, drive normally, learn to get the best FC driving, gain experience and probably a few near accidents.....that's how you gain experience....Only after that, you can consider not only the CVR but other faster cars as well.

good luck in your choice. :)

Ya...u r right. Maybe he wanted an Altis or Latio? These 2 cars can go up to crazy speed too. lol which car can't right? It is just a matter of time plus road distant only.

A new driver he may be...but after driving for say one month in his new car....I am sure he will be as competent as the rest of the road users.

How many old aged and kiasi, drivers speed after 100lm/hr? But you still see them in luxury Lexus/BMW/Merc. Its not about speed or experience.

Driving experience he will learn when he is on the road with his new car over the next few month.

I always think the BEST lesson should cost dearly for it to be memorable.

I rather a new driver to drive a super expensive car and get into accidents where the repair cost is much much more. The hearder it hurts the pocket and the heart, the more they will learn and remember for the rest of the their life.

Driving a cheapo COE cars will be useless as it will not be deterrent enough should an accident occurs as the cheap cars will not hurt the pocket and heart when accident.

While everyone is entitled to their opinions, I find your philosophy short-sighted in some way.

If you think 1 month can will as competent as the rest of the road users den the only word i can describe is COMPLACENCY. I driving for 7 years, not much as some members here are even more experience, but I still admit I'm learning everyday, I'm still not immuned to accidents. Driving for one month in his new car, I'd say he's only got used to his car..assuming he chose the "easy to drive" FIT. Sure he will be fine in the traffic of SG since there's not really guide to the "level" you should be on the roads...but the important thing he and all of us must know is that WE ARE LEARNING everyday on the roads. Traffic in SG, MY or any part of the world is dynamic and there's no such thing is you've mastered the roads......The keyword is experience.....that means experiencing as much scenarios on the roads as you can and not to forget these experience. The more he's experience is the more capable will he be able to handle a powerful car as he's familar with some of the common scenarios on the roads.

While your view in crashing an expensive car is aching about repair cost is rather hardline, in the real world it's not the case. To People who can afford an expensive car, the repair costs are nothing to them...And the threadstarter's choice of cars are not very expensive, the Fit RS is around 66k and the CVR is around 70k...but Civics costing 70k to 80k are already common sight in SG roads...

And to get into accidents, I'd say it's too late....esp if lives are involve....we all only have 1 life, I'm just afraid the driver never get the chance to learn the lesson, or worst pay for his mistakes.
