totally agreed......in our opinion.

Let me tell you why the iphone is insufficient as a smartphone (i.e. it is just a toy)

1) No copy/paste functionality

2) No option for turning Predictive typing off

3) No deleting individual messages

4) No MMS

5) Lacks numerous email features (no bulk "mark as read", no search, no sorting of any kind, no ZIP or RAR support in mail, can't send full resolution camera images)

6) No call duration recorded in the Calls Log

7) Cannot snooze appointments

8) Cannot set repetitive alerts for reminders

9) No Bluetooth file transfer

10) No syncing of Notes and TO-DO's (tasks on Outlook)

IMHO, there are only two things that make it stand-out:-

- the ease of use for the UI (yet they forgot to put in some sort of wireless manager),

- and the quality of the screen is second to none.

Btw, has apple come out with something that allows you to multi-task or are you still limited to doing one task at the time?

Aiyah .... cool down lah.

I know alot of people out there simply LOVE Iphone .... at the end of the day ... that is what the world is like ... so many different people .... and so many different preference.

End of the day ... the most important thing is that ...... we are HAPPY!! [thumbsup] [thumbsup]

LOL Too late... I already posted my anti-iphone tirade just before seeing your reply [:p]

Btw, for your needs, i think the iphone is perfect (since u said you didn't need a smartphone, but you needed their unlimited contact list). Not to mention it's so commercialised that you can use it to pull girls [:p] Too bad its so overpriced [:(]

This is bad [shakehead]

1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10 are the killers for me since i've combined my pda and phone use into one now.

I actually think the iphone is alright for people who want a phone with a few extra faddish functions and/or a media player. If you want integrated PDA and phone functions then it falls flat on its face. But their screen..... even nokia can't touch them.

4) No MMS---------------yes SwirlySMS does that

5) Lacks numerous email features (no bulk "mark as read", no search, no sorting of any kind, no ZIP or RAR support in mail, can't send full resolution camera images)

6) No call duration recorded in the Calls Log-----------------yes iLog does that

7) Cannot snooze appointments-------------- why would you want that?

8) Cannot set repetitive alerts for reminders

9) No Bluetooth file transfer------------------- sweetTooth coming soon

10) No syncing of Notes and TO-DO's (tasks on Outlook)----------------- notes does sync to itunes

Of course all these is done after you have jailbreak which i think you are aware right?

Having use Symbian and Winmo before, i know which is better. Have you actually try using

Iphone before or are you just commenting base on what you have read?

Yes I am aware abt the jailbreaking... thats its a lot of trouble for a phone that is that easy to use...... LOL

I've had the opportunity to play with both the iphones quite a bit. I found it very lacking, or a pain to have to reinstall almost everything with the firmware updates.......

There's still 5, 8 and half of point 10 which I use on a daily basis that the iphone cant do [:p] I've been using those functions for years ever since i had a wifi enabled PDA. So its still not a smartphone. One more thing I missed out. Does the iphone allow for "scribbled" notes as yet?

One thing about WinMo I've discovered is that you cant generalise it as its user friendliness varies from phone to phone. Haven't had the chance to play with a symbian touchscreen yet though.

I'm stuck with N82.dont know wat phone to buy to replace.

Maybe i'm contented with it [:p]

If you don't need anything else out of your phone, then don't bother. Besides, the cam on your phone makes most smartphones and the iphone look like they have an old webcam :p

Jailbreaking's not what most people think it is. It's simply installing your own software to suit your needs - making the phone better. Unless you really put in pirated/cracked software, it's not illegal. It just voids the warranty. Though the process is easily reversible if you don't screw up (which is virtually impossible).

It's like modding your car. In some cases it voids warranty, but it's not illegal.

... It just voids the warranty....

This is my biggest grouse with the iphone!!!

Yet even with all its jailbroken software, it still cannot do what my almost 2 yr old WinMo smartphone does on a daily basis. LOL so much for it being a smartphone.
