Yeah both brands depreciate like rocks sinking to the bottom of the ocean

I really hope so! Then in 2 or 3 years time I can afford a used one! [thumbsup]

I think the Superb is better.

Frankly speaking, warranties are just another way for ADs to justify higher prices for their cars. Most of the time they will tell you its wear and tear issues.

Even tho Mondeo has a better and sharper handling.....I doubt many people will get to appreciate it...few will get to drive in such condition.

If I don't mind the ah peh looks....I will go for the Superb...it's well bruilt, more advance tech, more equipment, etc... [thumbsup]

The VAG 1.8T engine is very prone to Slug.

The Mondeo In-Line 4 Engine is easier to maintain, ride & handling is also V.good.

Test drove both on the same day too -- Superb gets my vote for better drive train (1.8T + DSG) and better looking and more equipped interior. Really dislike the design of Sony HU in the Ford.

Space-wise, they are both big cars but Superb's party trick of a boot gives it an edge.

Couldn't really appreciate or feel a big difference in the Mondeo's handling -- often qouted in mags as its best point -- compared to the Superb and the Mondeo felt more laggy and flabby and noisy under acceleration.

Bro, tired of your R? How about GB for A3 sportback? hehe..

Ford Mondeo Titanium 2.3A $89,888 161bhp/208Nm 10.2sec (0-100kmh) 207kmh 6-speed auto

Skoda New Superb 1.8A $89,800 158bhp/250Nm 8.5sec (0-100kmh) 220kmh 7-speed auto DSG

Have test driven both cars today & still can't decide which one is a better buy? Any bros can share which one will u buy & why?

Bro,

Maybe you wish to ask those owners in www.fordclubsg.com/smf/index.php

Mondeo 2.3 Trend OMV $22,811 SP $79,888

Mondeo 2.3 Titanium OMV $26,149 SP $89,888

New Superb 1.8T DSG OMV $29k SP $89,800

New Simply Superb 1.8T DSG $31k SP $99,800

In terms of OMV seems like Ford seems to be pricing their cars much higher than Skoda. Based on the specs both carry, I would go for the Superb.

I think the Superb is better.

You can also add Saab to that list, judging from asking prices. But if you buy this type of car, either pay close to paper value or be prepared to drive till end of COE.

I rented the Ford Falcon XR6 for the drive from Adelaide to great ocean road to Melbourne.

The handling was top notch. Was able to do the cornering and twisting and turning bends with confidence at 90-110km/hr.

I believe the Mondeo should be of similar calibre. However you need to ask yourself if you would get to appreciate the Ford's handling prowess in Singapore roads? Unless you take it up North frequently...

Add the lower OMV and high markup by the Ford distributor and it does make owning a Ford less appealing in Singapore (in Aussie land, Fords are about as common as Toyotas from my observation)

Look at it subjectively, which is more important for you?

Space - both are big enough to play badminton in it.

Power - neither offers real power

Transmission - DSG is new and the future, but Ford's 6 speed traditional torque converter auto is a very smooth shifter.

Engine - Ford is using Mazda's retuned 2.3 ... its a horrible drinker. may return you 6-7km/L ... Skoda's VAG 1.8T + DSG is much much better... probably can get >10km/L

Roadtax - 1.8 vs 2.3 ... no brainier

Suspension setup - Mondeo's a good balance of good ride and handling (though handling i think Mazda6 is better), Superb is definitely on the soft side. Depends on what you want.

OMV/PARF - The numbers tell the whole story

Toys - Ford's Titanium has everything.... everything you need, and more. Superb, unless you go for the Elegance trim.

Built Quality - perceived quality ... Superb is better. But if you are going to drive for 10 years,... Ford's will be more durable and hard wearing.

Ownership experience - after sales (if you are going back to the AD for servicing), Regent's service is actually not bad. Not sure about Harvest (Exklusiv? ) after sales.... but then again, there are many workshops outside that can service VAG cars.

Badge - look elsewhere if you are a badge snob. But it is likely that Superb could be a taxi,... but you never see a Ford taxi, do you?

For my money? ..... i'd put them on the Superb.... because of one thing - DSG + 1.8T (and higher OMV) ... because Ford's weakest link is their poor 2.3L petrol engine (and lower OMV).

Ford Falcon and Ford Mondeo are two different cars built in two different continents about as far from each other as you can get. Falcon is a RWD platform and the Mondeo is a FWD platform. The only thing they share in common is the blue oval badge. Even in its most basic form the Ford Falcon has a 4 litre engine compared to the biggest Mondeo engine's 2.5 litres. That's nearly double. I can't imagine the philosophy would be the same.
