Hi all,

Anyone did sound proofing at Tuff Clad? Is it worth the money? Was quoted $500 for whole car, undercarriage, door panels and engine hood.

Does it really work?

Avantes come with Tuff Clad as part of the package, at least for mine it was. Its ok i guess, it does cut down on the level of noise, but not very much. If you have to pay $500 for it i don't think its that great an investment, you can buy your own soundproofing material and probably soundproof much better.

However, it does have some anti-rust properties..so maybe got some use?

Sounds good.. think cheaper than normal full car sound-proofing right? Is 500 just for the spray only or inclusive of sound proof sheets and liners?

FYI.. Avante comes with Sound-clad.. you can try your friends/relatives'/test drive to see is if its quiet a not?

Yes, sound proofing sheets on bonnet hood and on door panels. According to the lady, the undercarriage spray will be double coated.

That means, actually not full body liao... doesn't sound so cheap anymore... cos double layer sound proof for doors, fenders + bonnet, i tink also come up to slightly lesser $ or same $... just that you don't have the spray on the undercarraige la...

Also v interested to sound proof my car (when raining, my roof sound like attap hse... wtf).. hope the bros here got some tips on what works..

[:)] sound clad is only for under carriage... to minimise road noise... can't be considered proper sound proofing.

Agree...and it's very messy. Think they spray a layer of rubberize coating on the undercarriage and wheel arch. There bound to be over-spray that will kenna the suspension, etc....

most cars come with anti rust material by default, so it like wearing boxer over the underwear...

even if no anti rust, most cars ownership here wont last more than 5 years... so $$ is better spend other places.

Maybe some ppl already done it, so just comforting ownself... [sweatdrop]

Oh, alright, seems like a bad investment.

Side track a little, does it improve handling since it adds more weight?

In my opinion.....don't waste money....spray on will never be better than actual sound insulation material...else car maker should just do spray to save money
