what a heavy downpour!

is that a bad sign?

can't imagine those deceased buried in the cemetery.

with water flooding in the coffin is definitely not a very good thing.

MORE GOOD YEARS AHEAD!

-as quoted from some million dollars man-

Neutral Newbie

Hello everyone,

Car drowned on the way to CCK cemetery this afternoon, heavy downpour and traffic suddenly came to a halt on a one way road due to flooding.

Stock car with no mods, suspect water entered tru' exhaust.

Call insurance and car was towed to C&C, was told by tow truck driver that many cars around CCK cemetery were "drowned" as well.

Is the engine and exhaust ruined? How much of a wallet buster will it be? [sweatdrop]

Did you try to re-start engine after it died? if not still can be saved. Good luck!

Will be scrapping the Rio, consolation factor is that things could have been worst had I driven the other car.

Engine is damaged, was quoted 10K for a new engine. [sweatdrop]

Consulted a mechanic friend he too suggested scrapping. According to him, innards will start rusting very quickly and even if engine can be fixed, there are many sensors and electronics which could have been damaged as well.

Can't remember how deep was the water, could not even see road and there were lots of heavy splashing.

Checked and "body value" is pretty much null with a busted engine.

Can I de-register vehicle and have mechanic friend cannibalise remains for sale as spares?

Would suggest to try source for another engine or better still, a halfcut , since it will include all the electronics.

it may be ard 5k? and while the car is left at the mechanic, can take the chance to spray rubberized undercoats to prevent rust + soundproof your car :)

or take this chance to respray your whole car to a colour which you have always wanted.

at least after fixing it up, you still can sell for a higher price than just scrapping..

once u stop rev exhaust not enough pressure to force water out

Even at idling, there is still emission from the exhaust rite?

That can't prevent the water from getting sucked into the cylinders?

Unless water level is so high as to totally submerge the exhaust, I can picture that. But then the interior of the car would probably be flooded too?

our good friend here has to totally change all fluids in car (engine/gearbox/brakes/coolants/steering..etc) cos of contamination, basically full overhaul for car, not engine alone, gearbox also overhaul
