DBS Esso card's discount still do not match up to Citibank Dividend card's

DBS Esso gives 12% upfront discount. Citibank Dividend gives 10% upfront discount.

....but Citibank still gives 5% rebate AFTER the 10% upfront discount. This is something that DBS esso card does not do.

I've attached a copy of the email that i've received from citibank for a clearer picture on how it works.

Do you know if there are further discounts like vouchers (the $2 per 50$ voucher scheme previously) and the redemption of points?

With Citibank Dividend, once you used Smile Points or any other discount vouchers, it is only 5% discount with another 5% rebates. Otherwise, it will be 10% discount and 5% rebate based on current promotion.

With DBS esso, you will enjoy the full discount even Smile Points or discount vouchers are used.

Hmm, ok so basically if there is a 2$ voucher...

Under citibank:

Amount pumped: $50

Voucher= $2

Further Discount: $5

Total paid= $43 (14% discount which means it is better to ignore the voucher [$42.75 under just the card])

Under DBS:

Amount pumped: $50

Voucher = $2

Further discount = $6

Total paid = $42 (Difference of 75 cents)

Seems like citibank is better because:

1. The $2 voucher with min $50 doesn't exist all the time

2. You can use your points to redeem other stuff. Or in conjunction with the DBS card (if you hold both)

3. It is a waste of time and petrol to pump half tank only just to save 75 cents.
