Nokia 5800 CWN good?

I concur with what you have said, with regards to their service standards. It is indeed appalling. Needless to say, i have been subjected to such nonsense in the past. While their expertise in design and ergonomics is a matter of subjectivity (i.e. some like it while others hate it), i feel however that their build quality and service standards leave much to be desired. I don't suppose anyone likes poor standards in the first place

i'm also using Nokia 5800. It's a good phone to have, especially if you do a lot of mobile internet surfing. I have 3 other friends using the same phone and they're all happy with it.

How long hav u & ur frens been using it? Is there any problems with reliability eg. touch screen getting less sensitive?

How is typing of messages? I used to have a WM phone without keypad, it was O2 Atom, fully touchscreen and i swear i hated the soft keyboard, took so long to sms and its darn hard to sms while walking, need to stop to sms... I am using Nokia E71 now, love the qwerty keyboard that provides fast and accurate typing of messages and emails. Not to mention, the phone has quite long batteyr life.

So, How does the 5800 fare in messaging and battery life?

No matter what I don't think it can beat the blackberry storm when it comes to "hard-to-use" touch screen phones.

The blackberry storm is an utterly disappointing piece of crap.

Do we have to pay when using GPS service ?

GPS service is FOC. But the software that runs it is not.

Ur phone shld be preloaded with Nokia Maps and it needs subscription for it to work.

Make sure u also disable your A-GPS as it uses GPRS to obtain data from the GSM network to ascertain your position when GPS coverage is not available/weak.

Maybe to you is a studip question but still ask as new to GPS phone.

What is the different between GPS and AGPS ?

Why 1 is free and the other need to pay ?

GPS: Its free

GPS Software (eg. Nokia Maps, Mapking): Not free.

AGPS (Assisted Global Positioning System): Not free. It uses GPRS to access the GSM network to detect your exact location.

GPRS (General Radio Packet Service): Is a format used for file transfer.

I'll share my experience:

I got my 5800 in early Apr, and it was sent back to the Orchard care center in 3 days as vibration stopped working. A few days later it was claimed to be fixed, and I collected it from the center. Within a day the same problem recurred and back it went to the center again. Another week passed by before I was informed that it was fixed. And guess what, within 24 hours after I collected from the center, the same problem was back again!

Then the center took back the phone after refusing to replace a new set for me and someone called me a few days later, and told me they would change the phone motherboard for me, which is as good as replacing with a new phone. Then it took another week for them to get it fixed, and I collected it a few days ago, and now I'm praying the problem is finally resolved.

You can count how many trips I made to the center for the same issue. For the past month of phone ownership, the phone was in someone else's hands rather than mine for the most part. The center also refused to courier the fixed phone back to me.

While I'm fully aware of possible problems with new technology (new Symbian OS version and first serious touchscreen phone for Nokia), I wasn't prepared for this kind of post-sales service.

Maybe I'm just the unlucky one to get a defective set. But you should be able to figure out the service standard from them.

Nokia is getting lousier. I sent my Samsung for servicing 2nd time, they immediately offer to send it back to me, no need to collect from them.

I just replaced my old SE 800i with a Nokia 5800. My old phone was drowned to death by my baby's abundant saliva !!

The touch screen 5800 took quite some getting use to for me. But these features are good:

- Very loud loudspeaker, useful while driving. The button to activate loudspeaker is very easy to hit, unlike my 800i which required 2 menu clicks.

- QWERTY keyboard. Screen keys are bigger than my wife's Nokia E63.

- Wifi. Now I can check stock prices at home or at a public place without a computer.

- Also appreciating the FM radio but so far still cannot tune to BBC. Will try again.

- Have not explored the camera much.

Please stop being rude by using all CAPS posting and asking someone to shut up.

the reason why he ask you do google is because these are very basic questions and can be easily google.

even if you cannot go to other site, you can still search MCF for a lot of explanation on AGPS and GPS. I know because I & many others explained it to death before here.

In a way he's asking you to have some initiative and search instead of being spoon fed.

Is also being rude to change the word from keep quiet to "shut up".

Kindly perform a search on google or MCS to check the different.

don't quarrel don't quarrel...

Many a times some of us would get pissed off by people asking similar questions or same questions several times even though it has been answered before in detail, that is why some people would appreciate if you do a simple search on google or the forum, and since you are able to access the forum i don't think it is hard for you to do a simple search in the forum, or on Google.

caps on internet language is commonly used to 'shout', so i think your previous reply was quite rude as you were 'shouting', but thats from my pov.

no offence, forums are for us to talk c--k sing song one

5800 should be better performing in terms of messaging as i have friends using it and haven gave me negative feedbacks about it, yet.
