Axela72 5th Gear May 6, 2009 Share May 6, 2009 audi a4 is probably better or beemer 3 series If you want all in 1, get the Skoda Superb. See link below for more info: http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showto...p;#entry2750846
Tohto Hypersonic May 6, 2009 Share May 6, 2009 Volvo is only good with turbo engine or at least the 2.4L NA engine. The 2.0L engine are from Mazda 6.
Valiumz Neutral Newbie May 6, 2009 Author Share May 6, 2009 hmm....but i love it for its safety features, it does appeal to me.....exterior wise, they are working hard also to appel younger crowds
Axela72 5th Gear May 6, 2009 Share May 6, 2009 (edited) Superb have 7 to 8 air bags and also with 5 star Euro rating. Built with VW and audi parts. Come with 1.8TSI , 7 DSG from VW Edited May 6, 2009 by Axela72
Paddie 3rd Gear May 6, 2009 Share May 6, 2009 just want some feedback for the car....thought the interior looks good but test drive it, bit underpower..... I would go for the new Golf Sport. Around the same price, much better performance and fuel economy, bigger cabin. The S40 feels classy in some ways but it's just too slow and cramped inside. Soya Supersonic May 6, 2009 Share May 6, 2009 just want some feedback for the car....thought the interior looks good but test drive it, bit underpower..... Even the 2.4i is considered underpowered, let alone the 2.0. For wowo, onli go for the turbo versions which are the engines they r famous for. Soya Supersonic May 6, 2009 Share May 6, 2009 Golf is more cramped lah. Tested it b4 i got the T5. In fact, the golf can't even fit a golf bag in the boot - how ironic.
Akula Turbocharged May 6, 2009 Share May 6, 2009 Quite decent, esp with the pricing factored in. Some more with G. COE. Understand the OMV is around $31K-$32K. A bit cramp but still liveable. 2litre engine kinda weak link, in terms of output and delivery, though its helped by the new gearbox. SM motors after sales very good. Is space, real and perceived imp to you? Do you drive with pax at the rear quite often? 2 normal sized adults can fit in snugly, 3 is pretty tight. Hope this little bit of info helps...... That why I recommand Superb as it is heard to be as spacious as BMW 7 series and A8
Soya Supersonic May 6, 2009 Share May 6, 2009 Agree. Tink no car <$150k can beat the Superb for cabin size. Pity abt the badge......

Yes the Golf's boot is smaller but I'm pretty sure there's more rear legroom and headroom than in the S40.
Mudpeas Neutral Newbie May 6, 2009 Share May 6, 2009 skip the 2.0 engine ... its no where near the 2.4i. Powershift is good but what good is it if the power source is weak? personally, i went for the S60 after trying out the v50 2.0 - it's day and night difference and that the px is "sama sama"
Quirky_ster Clutched May 6, 2009 Share May 6, 2009 Okay.. never own this class of car before and don't think can afford it too but at least I've driven my boss volvo turbo not sure on the capacity... for 3 days... .. I have to say the car feels steady and rock solid.. but despite being Turbo.. it's a boring car to drive.. well it could be a young blood issue.. I feel Mercedes 180E ( which my family own ) is way better and more lively to drive and equally solid.. Given the money for this clas.. I'd either go for the Passat 1.8TSI or the Superb if $$$ no enuf.. I'm bias because I own Skoda Roomster.. but the superb is really a good car. Badge is a small plastic piece glued to the front grill and rear boot to give the car identity.. I have no problem wif that.. that's y I own Skoda and Opel... Had Cherry A5 have good driving feel.. I would have got it too.. but too bad.. it's really not my kind of car.. So back to main topic.. simple.. test drive all the cars in it's class.. and if you feel this is the car that makes you smile each time you drive it.. buy it! Busker888 1st Gear May 6, 2009 Share May 6, 2009 (edited) Really depends on yourself, just get the car (within yr budget) you like to be seen in. Many times you still go for the car you like even when your friends or relatives don't encourage u to. Anyway most Singaporeans change their ride every 4 to 5 years so u face the same problem again..
